A Killer In The House - Terrence Wilson
CHAPTER 1
Marcel and Valentina Baer was a happily married couple who met in the early 1970’s during the Vietnam War. He was a fighter pilot from Germany and she was a nurse from Italian decent. They fell in love at first site and were married just a few short years after the war had ended in 1975. They both lived in a small house in the woods out in Nesconset, Long Island and lived a simple quiet life.
Some years later the couple made a fortune designing more secure and tougher panels for all the airliners commercial and government. They ended up purchasing a beautiful mansion in Glen Cove, Long Island and bore a son they named Daniel everyone ending up calling Danny.
Daniel was a bright kid and such a fast learner; he was never really apart from his parents and did very well in school throughout the years. Since he had no brothers or sisters Daniel was usually left with a nanny when his mother and father would fly out of state on business in their personal Cessna 182 airplane.
For years all went well with the Baer family, their business grew as did Daniel. He ended up finishing high school two years early and was now attending Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York one of the most expensive college institutions in the United States.
While attending college he took up liberal arts as a major and mainly hung out with his three new friends Pete, Gary, and Paul. These guys were all inseparable and spent the majority of their time hanging out together and if you see one the others were not far behind.
Back at home Marcel and Valentina were always busy flying all over the country closing deals with various airlines and with so many successful contracts signed their business did nothing but grow beyond their wildest dreams. The two were still a bit old fashioned and didn’t really spend large amounts of cash when they went shopping for cars, clothes, jewelry, etc. and made a solid promise that their one and only son would never be in need of anything.......even his future children.
The lives of the Baer’s seemed perfect and that they were indestructible as far as life was concerned, until one hot sunny day June,21 2007 Marcel and Valentina flew out to Boston on a simple business venture, which would be their last, turned tragic when their plane began to lose pressure and altitude and smoke filled the cockpit blinding them from seeing that the plane was on a rapid decent headed towards the Atlantic Ocean where their plane made its final landing........actually a crash landing killing them instantly.
Back at the college all of the fellas were gathered in Daniels dorm room, snacking on cheese and crackers, and sipping on sodas from the vending machine. They were all talking, laughing, and giggling about the future of one another. Pete then says I think Paul is going to go on to be a dental assistant for some crazy lady in North Carolina
they all laugh and Paul replies Yeah right, you may just end up being the President
he pauses then continues jokingly Of Pittsburgh.....you’ll never be able to handle more than one state
and everyone laughs out loud.
The jokes continued until suddenly a female student by the name of Wendy came bursting through Daniels dorm room door with a radio in her hand, while Gary screams out Whoooooa, what are you doing bursting in here for unannounced?
Wendy then tries to catch her breath and looks over at Daniel with a scary and concerned look on her face and says Daniel, I am so very sorry for your loss
everyone then looked up at her inquisitively and Daniel asks Wendy, What in the world are you talking about?
Wendy then sits in between all of the guys, turns on the radio and a repeated breaking news broadcaster says We are so sad to announce that the airplane of the world famous Baers’ family crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near Boston, Massachusetts and there were no survivors found in the wreckage
.
The dorm room then became very silent as all of the occupants looked back and forth at one another in disbelief. Tears began to fall from Daniels’ eyes as they all fell into a group hug and tears began to fall from everyone’s eyes. One by one they began to apologize for Daniels loss but Daniel looked at each one of them and said It’s ok guys, I am going to make it through this
and before you know it Daniel grabbed his light jacket and slowly walked out the door never to be seen again at that college.
CHAPTER 2
Daniel had basically vanished off of the face of the earth and his unanswered calls were bothering his college buddies and this was unlike his character. Daniel was now in California with his Mother and Fathers’ remains and had them buried together on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the beautiful Santa Barbara Cemetery in Southern California.
Upon his return to New York Daniel grieved for many months and had taken refuge in the family mansion on
