Beyond the Door - Betty Bateson

    again

    Kiss From Heaven

Have you ever felt a kiss from heaven

When a warm breeze touches your face

Like a gentleness caressing soft lips

Yearning to meet in a special place

Have you ever had a memory so real

You pinched yourself when you arose

Could it be possible and is it true

You were with the love you chose

Have you ever wondered about dreams

Where they come from and are they real

Images of happy times with love so sweet

Where you can see him where you can feel

Have you ever realized how lucky you are

To be sent a kiss from heaven above

You are blessed with visions and dreams

One sweet kiss from the one you love

    Dreaming

    when you kissed me gently

and held me in your arms

    my tears disappeared

    but my dreams see truth

    you are my sweetest image

    conscious of a beautiful ending

    as deep waves of reality

    flood my mind

dreams do not always come true

    Jewellery Box

an old jewellery box shabby and worn

lays before me in the pawn shop

    the ballerina broken and bent

her tattered dress dusty and blue

memories in this old box a mystery

so long ago in another lifetime

    a story to be told

perhaps a gift from a handsome gent

    tales of romance and glory

maybe a dear Mothers gift to

    to her sweet daughter

    on her wedding day

to hold her precious hopes and dreams

good luck to come her way

my hand gently touches the chest

    reflecting on days gone by

a lifetime ago when she was young

    yearning for love

    full of wonder

    glowing with desire

    on top of the world

    timeless love

    Butterfly

    So delicate and fragile

    Like a broken heart

    Beautiful and light

    It sets you apart

    Full of color

    Like a maiden blush

    Yellow and pink

    Like a painter brush

    New and fresh

    Like a gentle kiss

    You are the beauty

    And love that I miss

    The Walking Stick

cleaning out the closet is never fun

    trying to separate past memories

with things you feel you need to keep

    for whatever reason

    here is your walking stick

what will I do with this

you carried it for several years

    just to keep your balance

it was so much more than an aid

to enable you to walk with ease

    the cane leaves its mark

it was your signature in life

to keep your gait steady and true

not one of the oldies but one too young

to lean on a stick to get around

when you were taken to the edge

    only to slip and fall

you shall never have it all

    even in silence you speak

in spite of all I hear your thoughts

but do not misplace what matters

    to see inside your eyes

    pain breathing daily

out of reach to those who

look upon your strife with pity

    all people walk different

    so do not lose sight

    when all comes crashing down

    we all use crutches

    The Graveyard

I just came from visiting you at the graveyard

Where your home has been for some
