About this ebook

Journey of A Thousand Miles is about Thomas life journey during the death of Sarah and his baby Abigail. From the journey of grief, losing faith in god and finding hope from the angels sent by God in human form. It will challenge our view of the purpose of our life on earth, people who haven’t grow in true grace and unprepared for the greatest things from God. Life is like a thick door in one’s path, a door that recedes before us as we advance. No one will ever know what is beyond that door. We can only know step by step by opening one door at a time. We never know what the future holds. We can never know what events a single day may bring in our life. These events sometimes fill us with happiness and success and sometimes beyond that door we may find unexpected and undesired events. All of us go through each door in our life and anxious to open the next one. If we plan our steps in a proper way it will lead us to success. In our entire life, everyday we take a step and continue to walk till we rest in peace. Many of us don’t realize that in each door that we open God is standing there to walk with us but sadly very often we walk pass by him and pretend not to notice him. The steps we take with God will be beautiful when we come to the final journey because during times of trouble and pain, God will walk in our path and carry the burden for us. Life is beautiful if we know how to live it. So don’t despise the little steps you know you can take every day. There are tiny miracles in each and every one of them.

Pamela Santiago

I completed my degree in Business Management and Masters in Psychology. Currently I am pursuing my PhD in psychology. I wrote my first book in 2007 called Primavera Project Planner and currently it is online with Amazon. After my first book, I wrote several articles for churches, youths and even for my students. The reason I wrote this book - Journey of a Thousand Miles because from numerous experience I have seen my own relatives falling apart from faith. I realized that there were many areas in Christianity that they still do not understand. It took me a year to write this book because I had to do research on the old testament and make sure my source was right before presenting it to the public. As a mother, I strongly believe that today many youths neglect the importance of religion and this is also one of the cause of the crimes today. With psychology background, I believe this book can be a good source of reference.

    INTRODUCTION

MERVIN! What on earth are you doing? I woke up with the thundering voice of my mother. With half closed eyes I turned and looked at the clock next to the bed. It’s only 7 in the morning. What is my mom up to so early in the morning? As I wondered, I heard the sweet voice of my angel answering my mother.

Grandma, I am cooking for you and daddy, answered my innocent kid.

It put a smile on my face as I know he has done some mischief work. Suddenly I remembered the last word my son mentioned, COOKING! I lazily pulled off the cover of the sheets and walked down the staircase towards my mother. The moment my mom turned to look at me, I nearly blast out with laughter. With a straight face I looked at her.

What happen to your face mom? Why is it painted with rainbows and mom what are your false teeth doing in the fish bowl?

I started biting my lips to control my laughter. I knew it was the work of my little angels but somehow I acted innocent. With a sharp look, my mom pointed at my kids.

    Jesus Christ! I said.

Watch your words, Thomas. Remember the Ten Commandments. THOU SHALL NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN, said my furious mom.

Sorry mom. I was overwhelmed. My sons face was covered with flour and there were broken eggs all over the floor.

What are you doing son? I asked my son and with a cheerful smile and he answered, I am making toast daddy.

My little boy Mervin who is seven years old was trying to make toast and because he couldn’t find the bread, he stuffed the toaster with crackers instead. What made my mom scream was my five years old daughter Sarea. Mervin placed Sarea in the kitchen sink so that she would not run around and hurt herself. What a noble thought but it turned out to be worst than that. Sarea was foaming with detergent running down her forehead.

I sprayed my hair like you do, Daddy! she informed me with her beautiful glowing bright eyes expressing with joy.

I heard a strange noise at the living room and when I tuned to look, there was my dad doing CPR for the stuffed toy.

    Dad, what are you doing?

I accidently stepped on the stuffed toy and Mervin thought I have killed it and he insisted that I do CPR on it, my dad replied with a sad tone and pleading look hoping that I will rescue him.

There longer I stand here, I will end up rolling on the floor with laughter. I took a deep breath and told my mom that I will take care of the mess and asked her to clean up my kids. After cleaning up everything, I took my shower, grabbed my jacket and asked my mom to look after the kids as I have some important work to do. I stepped into the garage and slipped on my sneakers. I headed to the ocean which was a ten minutes walk.

It was a glorious morning with the gentle breeze brushing through my hair. I felt a sense of peace within me. I reached the ocean and sat by the tree. I looked at the beauty God has created. It’s a true saying that Heaven starts from the Earth. The water in the ocean was gleaming clearly as if fistful of diamond dust has been scattered on it. It was flickering like glitters from the reflection of the sunrise. As I sit here all alone admiring the view of an early sunrise, I tilt my head back and closed my eyes. I enjoyed the quietness of God’s peace and the soft gentle pace. Tears started to flow from my eyes as the memory of my late daughter Abigail started to fill my mind.

It’s been three years since that heart wrenching incident happened. The day I walked out of my faith in God. I threw God out of my life and blamed him for taking away my daughter. Everything looked composed on the outside but I was barely holding it together. At that point of time, I rejected all comfort and advice given by family and friends. I started to isolate myself from the world and life became endless darkness. It was a literally hopeless barrier that felt impossible to conquer. My world turned upside down and all my emotions, happiness, faith together with my life were buried together with my daughter Abigail and my wife Sarah.

Despite of me throwing God out of my life, God still cared for me. God gave me hope again and guided me in the reconstruction of my spiritual walk with him. He never left me alone or threw me aside like what I did. Only if we stop blaming God we can see beauty of God and ourselves. When we start living as we are and walk in his path, we will finally see heaven on earth. Our Lord Jesus forgives our sins and sends his holy spirit to guide us no matter how many times we reject him. God showed me that he is in our heart and we should trust in our heart for God will be in our heart now and forever. Life has many surprises each and every day. We cannot live on regrets and sorrow. Faith is like the sun and doubt is like the clouds. There are some cloudy days and let them be there because eventually the sun will start to shine.

    In my ‘Journey of A Thousand Miles’ it will challenge your view of the purpose of our life on earth, people who haven’t grow in true grace and unprepared for the greatest things from God. This book answers all questions people have been asking since generations;

    WHY DID GOD ALLOW SUFFERING?

COULDN"T GOD HAS FORESEEN ALL THIS?

WHY MUST WE PAY THE PRICE FOR ADAM AND EVE SINS?

IF GOD LOVES US WHY HE DIDN’T GIVE US ETERNAL LIFE ON EARTH?

WHY MJST OUR LOVED ONES DIE?

The answers were right in front of us all the time but we as humans refused to acknowledge it. When we have come to the end of the road and there seems to be no way out, FAITH is the only thing that will help us find our way. 'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to
