About this ebook
This book is not a systematic guide on how to groom pets. You can find many books on that topic. Instead, this is a guide to assist with the aspects of opening and operating a grooming business. It offers helpful tips, advice, and experiences you may not have considered. Understanding all aspects of the grooming business is important in decision making and growing a successful business. Although there are limited instructions on grooming, this book centers around steps the author took to open a successful grooming business. The author had no prior grooming experience; that didn't stop her. She was told her house wasn't zoned for a commercial business; that didn't stop her either. This book tells how she got past these issues, and provides tips and tricks to help you get started. The author had no guides or prior formal instruction. The Internet had been invented, but was not widely accessible. She taught herself how to groom and will share these tips. She then learned, through trial and error, how to open and operate a grooming business. This book is designed to help you plan, open, and operate a pet grooming business by learning from her actions and mistakes.
Kelli H Clevenger
Kelli is a freelance writer living in the foothills of North Carolina. She lives, just outside of Shelby, on a small horse farm with her husband, two horses, two dogs and a cat who runs the farm. A lifelong health enthusiast, Kelli enjoys various fitness activities with her husband, church activities, and spending time with their adult children. Kelli received an AA degree from Peace College in Raleigh, and a BA in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She also has a diploma in fitness and nutrition from Penn Foster Career School. As a child, Kelli often missed school due to sickness. The first few years of elementary school required a tutor, resulting in lots of free time and few friends. This forced her to find ways of amusing herself. She found an outlet in writing and amused herself by writing essays, short stories and poetry. In the fifth grade, and again in the seventh, Kelli won essay contests which spurred her to write more. With improved health and high school activities, writing was soon put on the back burner. Soon, marriage and motherhood dominated her time, and writing remained in the background. Fast forward many years later. Kelli has owned three businesses: a dog grooming business, a weight-loss consulting service, and a wedding floral and design service. Now semi-retired, writing has once again become her full-time passion. Much of her writing reflects past experience, while much of it pertains to society, and the issues we often deal with (hence, her sociology degree rearing its head). Either way, she hopes you find her work enjoyable.
