Reviews for The Memory Keeper (Book 1 of the 2nd Freak House Trilogy)

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was given this book in exchange for a honest review from Lovers of the Paranormal.
I really enjoyed this book, I thought that the main character was quite feisty and quite realistic. Unlike most fictional abuse survivors, her pain did not immediately vanish upon the arrival of 'hot male foil'. The setting was extremely interesting, an alternate take on Victorian England with real psychics. I enjoyed the setting, plot and the characters were quite well drawn, if a little forgettable. I understand that this is the second trilogy surrounding these characters, while it is not necessary to read the first trilogy to understand the second, I will probably do so as I feel that certain events need more clarification.
My only real issue came with my copy. It may be down to the conversion of the file, but at least once a chapter, words were replaced by symbols. I could make sense of the word it was supposed to be, but it was annoying. This could have been a problem with my kobo or conversion, but I bring this issue up in case it wasn't.
