About this ebook

In this dark and sensual e-novella, which ties into Lisa Renee Jones’s bestselling Inside Out series, Chris’s dark point of view comes to light as he tries to win—then hold onto—Sara’s heart.

In a world where my only escape has been my art, Sara has been the light in my darkness. And there is darkness, the kind of inky black that can bleed from my life into hers.

She doesn’t see it. She doesn’t understand what I’ve shown her. And my biggest fear is that soon...she will.

This is a quick story of what happens right after Chris has proposed to Sarah. There is still moments of wavering between this couple, despite him asking her to marry him and her saying yes. I must admit that’s getting a bit old. Amber causes some huge drama here but it’s exactly what was needed for this couple to face the past and decide what they want for the future.

This is pretty angsty for such a short story, with lots of steam and plenty of drama. I was going to skip this, and while I didn’t really get a chance to see/feel completely, deeply, how Chris thinks/reacts to Sarah, it was enough to satisfy my hero POV loving heart.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This installment is from Chris Merit's POV. He is so conflicted with his love for Sara but needing to prevent her falling into his dark world.

The time has come to come clean as to what his life has been like. The boundaries between pain for pleasure and pain for punishment are there. In his life, pain for punishment is at times an unrelenting force that drives him deeper into this dark world.

I keep wanting to know more about him. As this series developed we have become so intimate with all these characters. Lisa Renee Jones is allowing us to discover a different side to the coin of pleasure and punishment we never envisioned.

This is a well-written, emotional, and highly erotic series that continues to draw me in. Definitely recommended. You must read If I Were You, Being Me, Revealing Us and Rebecca's Journals to enjoy the full impact of this story.

Contemporary, Paris, FranceChris Merit has always found his art to be his escape until the day he met Sara McMillan. She has proven to be a light in the darkness of his life. Unfortunately that darkness bleeds from Chris’s life into Sara’s. Now Chris needs to show Sara everything about his life. He is afraid of what will happen once he does because he is sure that Sara doesn’t understand or really sees everything that he has shown her so far. This is another great installment in the Inside Out series. This one is done from Chris’ point of view. With every novel or novella that is added to this series makes the series even better. It also gives readers more chances to visit some favorite characters and see just what else is happening. It also gives readers more to whet their appetite and keep them coming back for more. This is one series that once a reader is pulled in they will find it very hard to leave and will have them wanting more. While this series has flavors of Fifty Shades of Grey it has proven to be its own with a story line that keeps on building with each story.

I am usually a big fan of Lisa Jones. I LOVE her Amy Benson series, and any others I have read.
This book just didnt do it for me
    wasn't my cup of tea.
Not to say others won't like this
I know people who will and will recommend it to them.

I also was very unhappy with the execution of this novel.
The writing style is not her usual. Its almost as if the person writing this book was detached. again that is my personal feeling and what I got from it.

***This review may contain spoilers if you have not read the books in order***Sara and Chris are still in Paris. Chris finally revealed his secret to Sara. But was that the end or was there more to the story. After a passion filled night Sara and Chris are woken by a call from Tristan. Amber had fallen off the deep end and she was with Isabel. The two women together was a recipe for disaster. Will Chris get to her in time and was he willing to let Sara see everything he was still hiding? His Secrets, picks up after REVEALING US. I am very pleased with the books starting with IF I WERE YOU. The books all flow together nicely and you can pick up the books in order with ease. The sex scenes are extremely personal, you almost get the feeling of turning away from watching two people being so intimate with one another. The author writes with so much feeling and description you feel like you are right in the middle of the “action”. A great read. This was erotic, so if you are not into erotic, this was not the book for you, but if you like a mystery laced with hot sex scenes, you found it. The books need to be read in order. I would not recommend picking them up out of order.Rating 4.5Heat Rating HotReviewed By RaeCourtesy Of My Book Addiction And More

Ok, I know I love a lot of books, I get that but here we are again, I’ve been waiting on this book. I went on a LRJ reading extravaganza after I read one of Lisa’s books called Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen). And it just sort of fell into my lap (thank you Netgalley) After reading that one, it spurred me into the Inside Out series. From the first chapter of If I were you I knew I was hooked, 110%. I spent the next few days reading every book that was currently out in that series. Now I’ve spent a few months just waiting for His Secrets so when I saw it show up I though I was going to lose it. So it began —It’s no secret that His Secret is all from Chris’s POV and man does it shed more light on his feelings. You knew he was broken and found his own source of healing but did you really know just exactly how unredeemable he thinks he is? I’m not sure I did, until I read this one. I mean yes you knew he didn’t think to highly of himself but in His Story, you find out just how deep the damage goes. How not only he feels responsible for himself but for what has become of Amber. And how truly terrified that he will do the same thing to Sara, he doesn’t want any part of her to touch the world he was once apart of. But no matter how he tries, it keeps showing up. Though this book only spans a short bit of time and its s short book it touches very deeply to what Chris is feeling during their time in Paris. This book is a MUST READ total 5-STAR BOOK. Yes I can tell you the standard line of if you liked FSOG or The Crossfire Series you will like this one too but to me The Inside Out Series, is so so so much more than the others. (Yes they are great to I’m not discounting that) But whew, in this series you get it all. Don’t’ miss out on Sara’s journey. If you haven’t started this series you are missing out!★JammiePS Did you see that cover???

Pleasure and Pain

With a swipe of my hand, I complete the final touches of the dragon on Sara’s shoulder in equal parts red, blue, yellow, and green. The painting is finally finished.

Done, I murmur, glancing up at her, where she sits naked on a wood and leather bench. She’s the woman I love, whom I asked to marry me only hours before. I would have sworn I would never love like this, never risk loss, but I can no longer imagine life without Sara. I don’t even want to try.

Already? she asks, brushing her long dark hair over her shoulders, her naked breasts and creamy white skin a nearly irresistible temptation. Really?

My lips curve. I’m fast when I’m inspired. And Sara definitely inspires me.

She blushes, a contradiction to the woman who has let me spank her and do all kinds of naughty things to her. She’s adorable, sexy, and hot. Really fucking hot.

Standing up, she slips on the pale pink silk robe she’d taken from her luggage earlier, when we’d explored the castle that was once my parents’ Parisian country home. Now it will be one of our homes. It is ours. Everything I have is hers.

Casting me a tentative look, she asks, Can I see?

Of course, I say, rolling my chair over the concrete floor of my dungeon-level studio to give her space.

Almost shyly, she walks toward me, and I track the sexy sway of her hips until she stands before me and bites her bottom lip, her eyes shining with anticipation. She moves in front of me, the silk robe hugging her delicious backside.

I plaster my hands on my jean-clad legs. Otherwise I’d grab her and fuck her right now, before we even talk about the painting. And I like talking to Sara.

Her attention fixes on the painting of her naked body with a tattoo to match mine. With a dramatic gasp that is so completely Sara, she casts me an amazed look over her shoulder. It’s your dragon. She immediately glances back at the painting and lingers there a few seconds before she turns to give me a quizzical look.

I wrap my arms around her tiny waist and pull her to me, burying my nose in the sweet scent of her hair. What is it, baby?

She presses her hands to my shoulders, shifting slightly, and all those soft curves of hers are rubbing against me, stirring parts of my body to life that don’t lend to conversation. Amber suggested she could ink me to match you.

I told you I like you without ink.

You say that, but you just inked me.

The painting isn’t about you getting covered in tats. I lower my voice. It’s about you being covered in me.

Her lips curve slowly into a full-out smile. I like being covered in you. She traces the dragon on my bare arm. And I like your ink. Her smile fades abruptly. Amber’s talented. It’s sad she’s so confused in life.

An unavoidable, familiar burn begins in my chest at the mention of my ex, who I know is remembering the loss of her family this week and expressing it in all the wrong ways. Yes, I say. Yes it is, and yes, she is very talented. You should have seen the dragon she inked over.

Her brow furrows. Inked over? What are you talking about?

When I was thirteen I had a small dragon tattoo. When I met Amber in college, she was appalled at its simplicity and insisted she turn it into the sleeve. It felt appropriate—I was changing, and it needed to change.

She stares at me a moment and then cuts her gaze back to the dragon covering my arm and shoulder, as if it holds some key to the secrets I haven’t revealed. I slide a finger under her chin. What are you thinking?

Thirteen . . . that was the year your dad moved you to Paris, to be closer to where—

My mother died, and to her memories. Yes. It was. And it was a hard year. The dragon became my sign of strength.

And money and power, she says, reminding me of what I’d once told her.

Yes. The money and power have always been about security to me.

Security’s everything to me, but I don’t see it as money or power.

Because your father used money and power as a weapon against you—which I will never do. I lean in and kiss her. You know that what’s mine is yours. I want you to share all of my world with me, Sara.

She studies me, trailing her fingers down my jaw. It means more to me than you know, that you want to share your life with me. I’m sorry that will never include your mother.
