When I started the book I really didn't want to stop reading... so there was a late night reading until I did finish. This story also contained elements from other fantasy/sci-fi tales, it felt better integrated than the first book.

I want book 3 and I can't even find an expected publication year or any reference to it at all - except its being called a trilogy on his website.

Not as exciting as the first book in this series but it was ok. It was really slow at times. What kept me going was the futurist theme and lots of robots. At times I felt the themes in this book were too adult but the author did resolve them at the end and I felt a little better about that. The illustrations were beautiful and I appreciated the characters and their relationships.

Eva finally gets her wish to find others like her. Haley takes her to New Attica. In New Attica no one knows about aliens and everyone just goes along living a happy little life just spending money and eating pellets. Eva misses Rovender and feels uncomfortable. Eventually Eva meets up with her long lost sister and the two girls leave New Attica with Pride (the human leader) following close behind. A war is brewing and Eva will hopefully be able to put a stop to it.

This is the second book in the Search for Wondla trilogy by DiTerlizzi. This was an excellent continuation of this middle grade science fiction adventure. The book is full of beautiful illustration, a humorous and heart-warming story, and wonderful characters that make it a spectacular read!Eva Nine is reeling from losing Muthr, but excited to be rescued by Hailey. Hailey promises to take her to the human colony of New Attica. Upon arriving in New Attica Eva realizes that not everything is as it seems. New Attica is hiding some big secrets and some of them are a huge threat to Eva’s friends. As Eva struggles to find her place in this world, she uncovers some big secrets and learns a lot about herself as well.I have really really enjoyed this whole series so far. It is fantastical science fiction and a coming of age story was well. It reminds of a science fiction Alice in Wonderland. Eva has really struggled to figure out how she fits in with humanity and in this book she finds a lot of answers. Eva grows and changes a lot in this book and not all of the changes are easy ones.I continue to absolutely adore the wonderful illustration throughout, I just really love it and think it adds a lot to the story. I love Eva’s amazing adventures and the humor, as well as self-exploration in the story. I love Rovendar Kitt and his wisdom and how he has been a steadfast companion to Eva.We meet some new characters in this story. One is Hailey and he is an interesting character in his own right. Another I won’t say much about because of spoilers. The book ends at a good spot and I can’t wait to read what happens next.Overall I really am loving this whole series. This is an excellent science fiction adventure that has wonderful characters, beautiful illustration, humor and is heart-warming. It’s such a fun read, I can’t wait to read book 3, The Battle for Wondla.

(Lovingly copied and pasted and approved by Tony DiTerlizzi on Goodreads)Holy cow, this was a wonderful continuation in the WondLa series. I really do think it was even better than the first! This book, on several occasions, made me just sit the book down and smile or tear up for a moment. It's a great book for all ages. And don't get me started on DiTerlizzi and his amazing artwork. Egads, I want that man's talent. He is so good at telling a story, creating engaging characters, making them grow and learn, and then making it all come alive with his wonderful illustrations. Seriously, start this series with the first WondLa book if you haven't already!

I listened to the audiobook on this one, so as the summary indicates there are illustrations in the novel, I did not get to see those, other than what is posted online. I hope to buy this series in Hardback set, it's worth it and I love this story. I haven't felt this good about a middle grade series in years. It's imaginative and will pull you in.This series is meant to be read in order. There are several references to the events of the first book throughout book 2.Finally after all her travels Eva Nine finds her way to New Attica. But after the newness begins to wear off she finds that it's not anything like she really imagined it would be. There are strict rules, medical experiments and secrets and the discovery of a sister.Eva Nine is a strong and determined main character. She learns by listening and observing. Her past experiences give her some intuition on what to watch and listen for. Like the Harry Potter series, the Wondla series has very different levels of ideas brought to the table. The growth of yourself through your experiences and standing up for your beliefs and those you care for. Also the social and political interactions between beings and betterment of society altogether. (we view both positive and negative interactions)I was a little torn between how I felt with the narrator of the audiobook Teri Hatcher. For one I loved her speaking voice, she does the character impersonation very well and the emotions came through. The pronunciation and the slowing of speech during parts of the story where sometimes hard for me to push through, as I am used to a fast reading pace. But I think that for the younger listeners (in which this story was intended for) will not have these same issues and it may even help them understand the story better. The best part about choosing the audiobook option for this book is the fact that on the physical CD's there is a picture. When you take a snapshot of that picture with your webcam you will be taken to a website full of adventures and games that continue on into this imaginative world this author has created. An amazingly detailed and creative science fiction adventure for kids of all ages.

It is a rare thing when the second book wows me the way the first book did but I am happy to say that I am still madly in love with WondLa! Eva Nine and friends old and new have made their way on the ship Bijou to the human colony of New Attica with hopes that Eva will find her WondLa and finally feel at home. Not to spoil the story I will just say that all is not what she hoped for and Eva continues with guidance from the wise Rovender Kitt ,an alien who is all heart, to search for truth and justice in a world that doesn't always make sense. This wonderful blend of The Wizard of Oz meets Star Wars will have kids ripping through the book in one sitting just as they have with Harry Potter or The Lightning Thief. WondLa shows us that there are life lessons between the pages- some of which include learning to fight for what and who you believe in, growing up is not easy and families have to deal with issues too. To help us along Tony Diterlizzi has included his glorious illustrations and symbols when activated by your webcam further illustrate the journey. Eva Nine grows a tremendous amount in this book making this the perfect family read. Strap on your omnipods and get ready for an exciting journey on an alien planet just mind the sand-swipers! This book will be out on May 8th, 201
