About this ebook

During humanity’s exodus from Earth centuries ago, 10,000 starships scattered in all directions throughout the galaxy. Along with passengers, those starships brought humanity’s ancient literature. During the upheavals preceding the Galactic Commonwealth’s creation, that literature was largely lost. Stories, once known as, the “Arabian Nights” survived, corrupted and transfigured, as folklore on neglected barbarian worlds. These stories, recently rediscovered, are those told by starfaring visitors to the galaxy’s forgotten worlds.

• Hekaib — Although the general rule is to arrive early for appointments, make an exception when the appointment is with Death.

Author

Dave Loeff

Author, Dave Loeff (like Leff) also writes and designs business publications. A long time fan of science fiction and fantasy, he enjoys books that explore social as well as scientific themes, including those by Jack Vance and Frank Herbert."Whatever inspires a sense of awe is what I like the best. Whether that comes from the Arabian Nights or from popular science writing makes no difference. It's the mysterious that matters."

Fairly enjoyable short stories, if one enjoys Thousand and One Nights homages. The science-fictional elements are for the most part a purely cosmetic frame. Character types, social structures and the like are straight out of the original tales.
