Guru Amardas Sahib Ji was pleased with Ramdas and he found him capable in every respect and worthy of the office of Guruship. Guru Amardas Sahib Ji announced Ramdas Sahib Ji the Fourth Nanak on 1st of September, 1574.

Having become the Fourth Guru of the Sikhs, Shri Guru Ramdas Sahib Ji laid the foundation stone of Ramdas Pur, a town which is now known as Amritsar, the holiest city for the followers of Sikhism.

    Chapter One: Introduction

    Shri Guru Ramdas Sahib Ji was the fourth Guru of the Sikhs. Before he became the fourth Guru, he was known as Jetha Ji.

    He was born on 24th of September, 1534, at Chuna Mandi, Lahore (now in Pakistan). He was the son of Baba Hari Das Ji and Mata Daya Kaur Ji, who was also known as Anup Kaur Ji.

    Since his parents were too poor to provide even the essential daily needs to the family, he had to earn his food by selling boiled grams.
