About this ebook
One of the problems in our society today is that no-one is exempt from communicating with an addict. All of us are one degree of separation from knowing someone who suffers from addiction. Addicts are in our families, the workplace, our neighborhoods, and even in the mirror. At some point you have dealt with, or are currently dealing with, an individual who suffers from addiction or behavioral issues.
This guide was created for the non-addict, or the Normie, who desires better communication in relationships with the addict. It also lends tremendous weight to overcoming codependency; both in how codependency affects our ability to function solely on own or how easily we can get lost in someone else’s dysfunction.
Addictive behavior creates complications in our lives. Normies face a spectrum of challenges from creating boundaries, to loving the addict, to having simple conversations. Relationships between addicts and Normies become paradoxical when two opposing minds of logic clash and both parties become emotionally overwhelmed. This ultimately results in exhaustion and defeat.
Discover how Normies D.E.A.L. with addicts and addictive behavior. Gain further insight by introducing yourself to the complicated world of addiction through a professional lens. Moreover, experience the sensitive and personal accounts shared by those who continue to negotiate ways to learn, love, and live a peaceful existence with the addict.

Acknowledgements
I want to thank those who valiantly shared their story for the use of this guide. When it comes to addiction, there are many individuals and organizations in our society willing to help others in need. Thank you for keeping the light on.
As for codependency, I want to acknowledge Melody Beattie, author of Codependency No More and The Language of Letting Go. This extraordinary author reaches millions of readers to educate them on how to take responsibility for their part in the world of addiction and codependence. Beattie continues to be a catalyst for change in my life and happens to be one of the motivational forces that encouraged me to help others through the power of the written word.
I want to thank my family and friends who were subjected to multiple drafts of editing in order to deliver a cohesive product; to which they politely endured and assisted. And finally, a very special thank you goes out to Jane Freund who never gave up on me.
The insights, information, and stories contained in these pages are gifts, offered to those facing conflict in their life with an addict or dealing with addictive behavior. I want to thank each and every individual for the time they gave and the knowledge they shared. I wish them much love and discovery on their road to healing.
