Borrowed Spirit - Valvin Lee Jeanty

    SKYSHEEP

    Moon’s Shadow

Twas a night of youth searching for guidance

O’ how I did search but could not find it

As the Moon stared down in silence

The second night it revealed itself

And told me, "Not all treasures hold man’s wealth

If you look high enough you will find your health"

    Council well worth its tattle

How we broaden as the Earth takes narrow

Of innocent blood I’ve become the Moon’s Shadow

    I Notice

I notice my future within my past,

Sharing the same scenes, the same cast,

Be it far from me to think I’ll last,

Make one with myself before the mass.

I will make my future what I want,

I’ve seen too much past to now get caught.

    Taught through my curiosity,

I give birth to what we men can’t see.

Many ask of my future, what will I do then?

But the same ol’ past, outlive you and I again!

    Sorry Mother

Lord help me in my daily life.

Why is it that I help sharpen the knife

That will slaughter such a great soul?

I should be helping mother, she’s on the turn of old.

She has given me everything, not once have I lacked.

All my problems, she carries on her back.

I know that I should be helping her out,

Yet I quiver when the thunder roars and shout.

Now I cry to see my mother so abused,

The ozone layer is not all I stand to lose.

We cut down the bearings of her womb,

I’m pretty sure all her efforts will end pretty soon.

We can only reap what we have planted,

How we take all the natural for granted.

    Winter, spring, summer, and fall;

Decades on… not worth it at all.

We treat her worse than we do our pledged enemies,

Still she grants us with mountains, skies, and seas.

O’ we’ve better things, such as the American dream

I once forgot without Earth, America is but a dream.

As I Turn To The End

    Darkness no longer offends

As I turn to the end.

I sit here and begin to grow fear,

How can it all just up and disappear?

A blue thought creeps into my heart,

I’m finishing what I cannot start.

There’s not a smile left to pretend

As I turn again to the end.

    And I Will Grow

All I can say is that I can’t thank You enough

Now that I’m of Your flesh and not of their dust

Drowning me again in Your spiritual ways

I give unto You respect and glory in every praise

When my life was crumbled and I was not too sure

I turned to You and You were every cure

Linger in my heart, in morning first and at night last

Loyal, but still there are questions I must ask

    God, where should I begin

Really, why do You love me if I’m still of sin

Oh, You say my will to change shows

With You in sight my good spirit surely will glow

    Not An Icon

I do not live to encourage this place,

Nor do I live to make proud a race.

Won’t strive to be an icon of grace,

    So don’t look for
