    Is amateur research any good? Do you want to do amateur research, which nobody asks you to do and for which nobody is paying you? Will you benefit humanity? Or are you wasting your time?

    Is amateur research good for fun and learning but nothing else? Or can any of their findings of the amateur researcher be exiting and new to the world at large?

    Computers are ubiquitous it seems today for everyone. And the same PC and software that everyone has at home in their bedroom, study or spare room is used by many professional researchers.

    Someone in his early 40's, whose experiences before were of using computers to do a bit of office work and IT, tries his hand. He left school almost at minimum school leaving age but on a whim one day when he gets a new computer, he tries to do some of his own research.

    This essay is a candid look at amateur research written by an amateur researcher. And he gives the advantages and disadvantages of such research. His project was on personal time management. For this project, the amateur researcher made a note of how he used his time for nearly a year, analysed 10 years of personal diaries and journals, and even made use of his budget. And his findings may surprise you.

    His project also had an important goal for him personally of managing his own time better, e.g. reading more, a long-held ambition. And getting a better life. The project came to reflect his own happiness and his own life.

    Did it succeed or fail? Did he make any new discoveries about time management? Maybe, others can learn both from the successes and failures he has so well described.

    This essay is a candid look at amateur research written by an amateur researcher. He gives the advantages and disadvantages for doing amateur research and of the particular project he chose.

    And this was a project during which or because of which, he reflected on his ambitions in life, and his own personal happiness
