Reviews for Quick Guide

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This summary is written in the style of a fifth grader's book report. Prepare yourself for odd misuses of words ("a Jewish" rather than "a Jewish man") and horrible grammar (unnecessary dependence on "happened to", with two uses of "happened to" in a single sentence). [Margaret happened to move to New Jersey where she happened to go to school and happened to make friends.]
I feel that I now understand what the book was about, so I don't want to give this 2 stars, but reading this summary was quite painful.

Chapter One: Introduction
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.
by Judy Blume was first published in 1970. It is known as a young adult novel.
The story revolves around a girl in sixth grade. There was no religious affiliation in her growing up. Her mother happens to be Christian and her father Jewish.
In the story, Margaret happens to be on her quest to find a single religion. She also comes across several other pre-teen female problems, such as purchase of her first bra, experiencing her first period, using sanitary napkins, jealousy towards the girls who look like grown up women, liking boys, etc.
It is said to be the author’s most successful novel. The significant point is that the book was written just after she had begun her literary career. During that period, her children were at preschool.
There are several themes such as adolescence, puberty, menstruation, crushes and love, religion etc. The skillful handling of these themes has been highly admired by critics and scholars.
Before this novel, no other novel had dealt with these topics. The book became instantly popular among young adult readers. It was liked by the contemporary and even the future readers from the following generation.
About the title character and the protagonist of the novel, Margaret, Blume stated that she had always known who was going to be the protagonist, even before she had started writing the story.
She said that it had begun in her sixth grade. Just like her central character, Margaret, Blume describes that she had her very personal relationship with God, though she did not have any organized religion.
The family of Margaret is quite different from the
