    Opening

Dreams, everyone has them. But just what are dreams according to Scripture? How can we know if a dream is meaningless, or full of meaning? Are there dreams with special meaning to which we should pay attention? And if so, how can we tell the difference between an average dream and one meant to be interpreted?

These are the varied questions looming inside many people’s minds as they lie on their beds after dreaming what seems to be a hidden message meant to be understood by them. Certain reoccurring dreams haunt millions. Most seek out their meaning however, in the wrong places. For dreams that have specific meaning are meant to be viewed only from Biblical context, which have set down the proper patterns and symbols, that are meant to be used in dream interpretation.

When we stray from these set guidelines within Scripture, we get a distorted understanding of dreams meant to tell us something important within our own lives and the lives of others. There are dreams that are prophetic. They are meant to speak to us of coming events. Some dreams are answers to direct questions a person has asked God.

If the dreamer seeks out a wise person who understands Biblical symbols, they will receive a proper interpretation of their dream. If however, they step outside of Biblical symbolism, they receive only humanistic ideas or tainted interpretations of their dream.

Symbols are very important within Scripture. They remain the same throughout Scripture no matter where in Scripture they are found. This is how one can accurately interpret dreams without being afraid of misinterpreting them. This is how Joseph was able to interpret the two prisoner’s dreams, along with Pharaoh’s dreams. He understood Biblical symbolism.

Knowing symbols within Scripture is the same as knowing the mind of God. It cannot be emphasized enough that when dealing with dreams, one must use only Scripture to interpret dreams that have true significance. Using psychology or any number of other avenues to interpret dreams only leads to frustration on the part of the dreamer.

There are three major aspects to knowing if a dream has significance or not according to Scripture. They are: (a) It is remembered after waking up; (b) It haunts the dreamer until he receives a proper interpretation; (c) It includes a picture or symbol of Christ within the dream. If these three things are present, then the dream is a direct message from God, which is meant to tell the dreamer something or answer a specific question they have asked God.

This book will not be your average book about dreams. For God has given me the ability to interpret dreams. He has shown me through years of study what varied symbols within Scripture represent. Therefore, it carries over into dream interpretation as the symbols remain constant even when in dreams. For our God is NOT the author of confusion.

Our God is a methodical God full of wisdom and understanding. He has set things in order so that confusion will not set in on His children. If one studies Scripture, one can understand the symbols used by God in the many stories of His children’s lives within Scripture. Each symbol sets a pattern to be followed in each different story within Scripture.

I have called them stories, not in the sense that they are make-believe. For these stories are actual events in the lives of godly men and women. God used these events in their lives to explain Himself to those who would read His Divine Word. Their actions were indeed guided by God Himself in order for these events to show patterns and symbols that God could use over and over again to reveal truth to the readers of His Word.

It is the intent of this author to pull my readers into a greater understanding of the mind and heart of God, so they might enjoy a much richer life and closeness to the God of the universe, indeed all creation. Have you had a dream lately? Have you had a reoccurring dream that is plaguing you? Have you had a vision?

These things have an answer within the pages of Scripture. Doubtless if you are reading this book, you have either had a dream or a vision that you are eager to decipher. Allow the Spirit of God to lead you into its proper interpretation as the symbols and examples within these pages reveal some pertinent symbols for you to follow to their logical conclusions.

    Chapter 1

    Forget what You’ve been Told

I cannot stress enough for you to put away childish thinking where the Scriptures are concerned when dealing with signs or symbols. In order to progress into the mature mind of God one must put away early understandings from well-meaning leaders of the Church. In their efforts to help the children of God, they have all but made them totally dependent on them. They have stood in the way of them maturing.

This at first may seem like a harsh statement, but I cannot count the many times I have had to retrain the minds and hearts of the children of God into more mature thinking when dealing with understanding the mind of God more accurately or with more mature understanding. They have been raised only on
