About this ebook

CONTENT WARNING: Due to adult sexual situations and language, this novel may not be appropriate for readers under 18.

If you are looking for an intense, passionate love so wrong it is right, a story about losing your way but clawing desperately at any chance to find your way back, about hanging on to your last shred of sanity and trusting someone enough to let go of your fears, look no further. No One's Angel's angel is a New Adult (NA) Contemporary Romance about a girl learning to fight back and a boy learning to let go.

Tess used to spend more hours than she’d care to admit playing her favorite computer game, using the nickname Angel. She could pretend her life was different, and she could pretend Arion was just a friend. But a girl needs more to keep her warm at night than pixels, and she traded her virtual heaven for a real-life hell. Now she’s on the run from a past she won’t talk about, and the only place she has to go is the doorstep of the friend she’s never actually met.

When Angel disappeared from their nightly games, it nearly destroyed Arion. He threw himself into work and women, but he can’t help knowing the one-night stands will never compare to the angel who haunts his dreams. At first, when she shows up soaking wet and scared-shitless on his doorstep, he thinks his prayers have been answered.

But the more Arion tries to keep Angel close, the more her fear drives her away. If they are ever going to have a chance for a future, they’ll first have to deal with the past that hasn’t forgotten her any more than she’s forgotten it—and Arion will have to learn how to let her go.

I received an ecopy from the author via Librarything in exchange for a honest review!Tessa used to play computer games, using the name Angel, disconnecting herself from reality, she never believed there will be a connection between the virtual world and real life, but what will happen when she has no one to trust, and the only chance left for her is her best friend from the virtual world? This book stands on the thin line between love and hate- while the plot sounds very interesting and refreshing at first the main character just makes it annoying at times- I understood the place she is coming for,but it doesn't justify her actions, which make me spend the rest of the book asking:why does the male lead put up with her?overall-this book could have been better, but overall the refreshing plot of this book and the male lead made it worth it!3.5 stars

I just finished reading No One's Angel by Kelly Walker which I received through the Librarything Member giveaway program. I have to admit that being pretty new to the NA genre I didn't really know what to expect. The storyline was completely different than anything I usually read, so I didn't have anything to compare it to.

No One's Angel is the story of two teens who meet through an online video game. Tess (screen name Angel) and Axel (screen name Arion) develop a friendship of sorts and look forward to their daily interactions with each other through the game. Arion knows that he is falling for Angel even though they have never met, but Angel doesn't take the attraction that seriously. One day Angel disappears from the game without even saying goodbye. Arion is crushed. Then a year later, a terrified Angel turns up on his doorstep, 2000 miles from home. She is running away from an abusive relationship and and feels that she has nowhere else to go. I really appreciated the fact that Arion was so dedicated to Angel and he did everything he could to make her feel protected and safe. He was by far my favorite of the two.

What I enjoyed most about this book was the beautiful narrative between the two teens. Kelly Walker's writing is fluid and practically poetic, and there were so many quotes that I know someday I will use to fill the pages of my journal as they are so beautifully written.

Overall I thought this was a good story. Not exactly the type of book I would go out and buy for myself, but I'm glad that I did get to review it - I would've missed the tenderly written narrative that I enjoyed so much.

I received this book in return for an honest review. I actually think this book is more like 3.75 stars.

Tess has runaway from her life. Her real life that is. Her fantasy life as Angel has finally become her reality and showing up on Axel's doorstep in the pouring rain, sends her down a spiral she don't know if she can ever break away from. Axel, or Arion in the gaming world, fell apart when Angel suddenly disappeared from their make believe world a year ago. And now she's shown up at his doorstep, he's not letting her go again. But Tess/Angel has a past that is quickly catching up to her and Axel may not want to be a part of it.

This depicts a very true and accurate look at how Women are when they are abused. They are scared and confused beyound belief. They are also self doubting, lack confidence and trust virtually no one. So I thank Ms. Walker for not beating this serious topic the wrong way. Tess/Angel is a strong woman who has lost her way due to enormously horrible circumstances. She turns to Axel/Arion. Sweet, loving kind Axel who has no idea what she has gone through but loves her despite her walking away from him 1yr or so ago. This causes him anxiety because this adorable With the past of his mom, he is afraid she will leave him again and his heart can not take that. Neither can anyone else's for that matter. She really crushed him. Feeling for both in this complex situation is easy and you will cry when you see her flashbacks and her pain. She is like a wild animal trying to survive and takes it out on Axel because he is her rock. Axel knows something is wrong and is just so precious that it will break your heart. As they navigate their way through this minefield, both do stupid things. Axel let's his fear come through a little to much and sometimes his fear turns to anger. Tess doesn't trust enough and is always doubting things and wanting to flee leaving Axel to be on pins and needles. In the end though you will cry for joy and happiness but there are some pretty intense moments at the end to get you there. A beautifully written and realistic portrayal of a woman in Tess's situation. (received from author via librarything for a honest review)

No One's Angel is a different kind of love story. One that takes place in the modern world surrounded by gaming, abandonment, betrayals, domestic violence, solace, sex and lust, and love. The Good: The story was well-written, fast paced and unique. I seriously read it in ONE night. This is amazing for me since it usually takes me a week to read a book that I'm really into (I am a slllooooww reader!). I enjoyed the fact that the main couple's love started online in a game and despite their current circumstances it carried over into the 'real world.' The chemistry was well written and you got a good sense of who each person was, what their faults and strengths were and how each impacted each other. The action and suspense was great and the ending was perfect. Now for the Bad: A lot of cussing. I mean a lot. I don't mind a curse word when appropriate but the "F" word was used to describe everything from sexual needs to frustration. The amount of use of the "F" word, to me, really detracted from the story. But then again, I hate that word.I'm not going to go into the sex scenes. There were several but I prefer to read story verses erotica. So I skimmed these parts.Overall a good read and a great story line. If you don't mind the cursing and sexual content and you want to read a different type of modern romance then I'd highly recommend this book. Received this book via LibraryThing.com member giveaway.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Kelly Walker for the chance to read and review this book. The fact that I received the book for free in no way influenced the content of my review. Angel is on the run terrified she will be found and dragged back or simply killed. She can't run to family since that is one of the first places they'd look. Instead, she decides to run to Arion, hoping he'll let her stay long enough to figure out a better plan, and maybe loan her the money necessary to get somewhere safe - if such a place even exists. Terrified, and soaked to the bone, she squishes her way through the room and up to the bar, all the while praying that Arion hasn't moved. She catches the attention of the blond bartender and asks for Arion, then realizes her mistake and asks for Axel. The woman looks at her and laughs before giving her directions to a door two floors up. When Axel opens his door he is surprised, then stunned when he realizes that his Angel is standing before him, in real life. Thus begins the physical romance between Angel/Tess and Arion/Axel. The two had been partners in an online game, and had flirted outrageously, but it had been safe because they were two thousand miles apart, so Angel never imagined it would go anywhere. But now that she's on the run he was the only safe haven she could think of. Arion is thrilled to see his Angel, but quickly realizes that something is very wrong. And though they both have instant, and overwhelming, attraction to each other, they each recognize they must take things slowly. Of course there is more in Angel's past than an abusive boyfriend. And being only 21, she doesn't have lots of life experience to build upon, which explains her lack of self-esteem. As the two slowly work through their own issues, new problems crop up to set them back - feeling like the basic formula for a story of this sort. Not that it is bad, but it didn't feel as original or authentic as I'd have liked it to. Angel tries to reclaim her independence, while Arion struggles to let go and trust that she will return to him. Through all of the ups and downs the two are clearly in love, though they can't always see it themselves, letting hurt feelings and old history get in the way. When all the cards are finally on the table Angel makes the big move to reclaim her life, only to have it spoiled by the reason she does it. I found it very frustrating that Angel didn't mature more by the end of the story. I know she is supposed to have, but two simple lines wrecked it all for me. While I can see where the author was going with what she did, I still felt that she betrayed Angel. I strongly believe that Angel could have come out of this whole ordeal stronger, having reclaimed herself and being open to loving Arion. Unfortunately for me, the way I read Ms. Walker's ending did not give me the resolution I wanted, and the one I feel she was aiming for. All that being said, it still makes for a decent afternoon beach read. Hopefully future works by Ms. Walker will allow the heroine to be strong in her own right, as well as retaining the ability to remain open and vulnerable to love. I think that she can get there, and almost had it but for a single decision. It may also simply be that she and I took completely different meaning away from the one scene I keep referring to. My only other comment relates to my confusion over the title. Once you reach the end I wonder if you too will have the same question as me. But then, isn't that what reading is all about, personal interpretation?

I read a lot of books... very few become "best ever books". This is one of those books. I have been thinking about what makes it so special for me and I think it is a combination of factors. First, this is a wonderful romantic story. Arion and Angel (as they have nicknamed each other) are kindred spirits. They have bonded in a spiritual level before even meeting. Second, it is the thrill and suspense of the underlying plot line. Angel is running away and running to the only person she can trust. Thirdly, it is the writing. This is a well written book, with great exposition and character analysis. I am grateful that this author's next book will continue to broaden the story to encompass other characters from this book. I cannot wait to find out what happens to these secondary characters.

Let me start by saying I am probably not the target audience for this "YA" book. Having said that, I do read some of the genre and generally have enjoyed them. I wanted to like this book. The basic story seemed interesting. Tess, or Angel as she's known in an online gaming world, had a very close relationship with Arion (Axel) online and he is crazy about her. She gets involved "in real life" with a controlling violent man, Nick and drops out of sight from her online friends due to jealous Nick smashing her computers. After months and months of his controlling, his browbeating, his threats and abuse, she runs. She runs half way across the country to a smeared address on an old Christmas Card from Arion and lands on his doorstep soaked from the rain. Here's where it more or less fell apart for me. She's scared for her life, she's been abused and is like a frightened deer in the headlights yet she's no sooner pushing Arion away if he even tries to touch her for a hug, for instance, than she's contemplating how hot his is and how she'd like to jump his bones. She alternatively shivers in the corner from panic attacks and rubs her body all over his in the kitchen and then jumps when he tries to touch her back. Come on! He's not much better. He comes to understand she's been through a lot and is scared though isn't up on most of the details. He can see her cringe when he comes near yet he's all over her in the dressing room of a shop and *she lets him*. She's hiding from Nick and getting any details out of her is like pulling hens' teeth so behind her back, Arion has a good friend asking around about the situation, virtually guaranteeing someone is going to tip off Nick. I keep wanting to smack these people. He comes across like an insensitive idiot and she comes across immature and stupid. The climax is mercifully swift. I only finished it because it was a free copy for review.

I did find myself liking this book, even though it is not one I would typically read. The story line was quick to draw and hold my attention. The characters were substantial and real enough despite some inconsistent behaviors of the two main characters. Angel (Tess) is so jittery, scared, and defensive, from a prior abusive relationship, towards Arion (Axel) one second - then the next she can barely keep her hands off of him and her hormones in check. Similarly, Arion swears he will respect her space and give her time, but then before you know it he is pushing their physical boundaries again. I guess the purpose of their behavior is to show despite everything, they have a true and undying connection to each other. Sometimes it just seemed a bit excessive.

**I received a copy of this book from the author and Publisher through Netgalley in exchange for a honest review**

Angel is running from her past. Running for safety. She runs the only place she thinks she can, to Arion. Arion and Angel met online in a game and unbeknownst to the other, fell in love. But Angel decided she couldn't confuse the game with real life. So when she met someone she had to give the game up. Until she needs to escape and Arion is the only one to run to.

This isn't a beautiful story of reconnecting and falling in love. This is a story of a woman trying to find herself and her strength again, and a man who would lay down his life to help her if she would just let him.

To some certain parts may seemed rushed but you have to remember their past together. Even so it is all well done and doesn't gloss over the heavy stuff. In fact I was pleasantly surprised that the story didn't just focus on physical scenes with Angel and Arion. I liked the suspense in the story. I liked how the issues didn't just magically disappear.
This is a story of healing and standing up for yourself, and realizing it is okay to ask for help. This story also helps remind you that falling in love can happen anywhere.

I almost wish the story was longer, so we could focus on the after.

I’m not really into computer games.I’m much more in tune with the PlayStation and Nintendo and Xbox consoles. Something with a separate controller that I can stretch out across my bed or the floor with and control my character through worlds I can only wish was real. I can’t stand to play a game on a keyboard. It is tedious and I haven’t the patience for it. And when I’m fighting with the Companions, trying not to become a fucking vampire for the thousandth time, I don’t wanna hit “esc” or “F1” and wipe out all my progress. (And maybe that’s not how it works. I’ve only played Fate on a desktop, and I became frustrated too quickly and ended it. Maybe they have controllers now. I don’t know). But nevertheless, I understand how online roleplaying games work. You form a group, a guild, and get shit done. So when Tess, aka Angel, mentioned she played an online game, I was fully committed to reading this. (Actually, I first thought of that recent episode of Catfish where that girl meets that dude she played that online game with and he was a complete prick just trying to brush up on his game and I thought Nev was gunna knock the shit out of him). But anyways, video games are a fairly important part of my life, and I don’t read many books that have an element of them somewhere in it. So No One’s Angel was a sudden interest and complete surprise.Angel is a very broken girl running from some heavy stuff. Why wouldn’t you run straight into the arms of your sexy as hell online guild member? (Unless he turns out like that Catfish guy, that’s why). But he doesn’t and he is sexy and almost as damaged as she is.I like a guy who can manage a business and be completely professional, but also doesn’t mind getting his boots dirty and running a farm. MAN. That’s all man. Also, a man that would take you on top of the kitchen counter. Yeah. Meet Axel aka Arion.Oh, Arion. Baby. You’re some kinda trouble that I wouldn’t mind getting myself into.He is oh so sweet and protective to Angel, and sometimes I feel like she mistakes that for possessiveness. Considering her past, some of her wariness is understandable, but she is a rollercoaster of emotions. And yeah, he makes it a point to let her know that she is his and he wants her. But she verbally shoots that down multiple times, while in her heart, she knows full well she needs him.Woman. You just flew across the country to be with him. You wouldn’t have gone if you didn’t want him in some way, shape, or form. Please, relax. Also, when she freaks out after she finds out he looked into her past. If you had some strange person show up on your doorstep and sleep in your bed and drink your fancy coffee, wouldn’t you like to know what their shady past consists of?That’s about my only frustration with this book. The back and forth thing they go on when I knew exactly how it would eventually end.Overall, a very sexy, emotionally real book. Something worth checking out.
