A Night At Club Vampire - Elixa Everett

    Chapter 1

    ––––––––

It sounds a bit dangerous to me, Franny, Trinity Jenkins said with scepticism in her tone to her closest friend, Francine Winters, while stirring some cream into her coffee. They were sitting in their favourite coffee house discussing their plans for the upcoming weekend. Because it was Wednesday in the early afternoon, they were the only ones in the shop, with the exception of an elderly gentleman sitting in the opposite corner reading a newspaper.

Ugh. Come on Trinity, don't be so square. Francine, also known to her friends as Franny, rolled her eyes.

'Don't be a square? Really? What decade are we in again? She maintained a straight face, but amusement gleamed in her bright emerald gaze. With her petite frame, black hair and striking eyes, Trinity was the physical opposite of curvy, blond haired, blue eyed, Marilyn Monroe look-a-like Franny.

The whole vampire thing is just a gimmick.

Yes. Maybe. But I've heard things about that place. Trinity chewed on her bottom lip as she considered her friend's proposal. Franny would have to be a lot more convincing than she had been so far to get her to that place.

Oh. You mean the hot-assed men, rockin' bands, psychedelic light and sound systems? She crossed her arms across her chest, pouting. Ya. That would suck. You're right, let's not go.

Sorry, Trinity shrugged at her friend.

Yeah. Okay. Trinity, I have an idea for the weekend.

Okay. Trinity took a sip of her coffee and made a face. Still not enough cream.

"Let's go to yet enough boring-assed club, have a rotten time and then get so drunk, because of that rotten time, then we end up going home with a couple of coyote uglies."

Wrong time to take a drink of coffee. Trinity couldn't hold back the laughter, causing the mouthful of coffee to go sailing across the table, stopping just before it reached Franny. She was overtaken by a fit of coughing and laugher. Tears began welling up in her eyes. After a moment and a number of deep breaths, she was able to control herself.

Coyote uglies. So ugly that in the morning you'd rather chew off your own arm than wake him up. Very nice, Franny. Sadly she had a point. They'd both had one too many of those experiences over the past few weeks—hell, the past few months, for that matter.

    It's true.

Trinity sighed. It was true. In a city as big as New York, one would think that there would be a vast array of great men around. That just didn't seem to be the case, though. Maybe they did need to shake up their normal weekend activities? Perhaps a new club would be just what the doctor ordered.

She looked over at Franny sitting across from her with a determined expression on her face. She'd heard things about Club Vampire. The not-so-secret sex rooms in the back marked VIP. Excessive amounts of drugs use. Even a few unsolved murder cases just recently made the news in the area where the club was located, pointing to there being a connection to the club.

The one other thing that bothered her, aside from the club's reputation, was that from the time they were children Franny was getting her into trouble. As they became teenagers, it was the same thing. Trouble, trouble, trouble. Now, as adults in their early twenties, Franny seemed to still be able to get them in over their heads. That's exactly what Club Vampire sounded like to her: pure trouble.

As much as she didn't believe vampires existed, there had been a lot of strange occurrences associated with the place, those unexplained and unsolved deaths topping the list. Ironically enough, Club Vampire was nonetheless the hottest club in town. Perhaps because of all the crazy vampire hype currently going on; who knew, really.

All hot clubs have drama and scandal. It's what drives the people to them, a voice nagged in the back of her head. It was the same voice that usually convinced her to go along with Franny's schemes. Taking a final look at Franny's hopeful expression, her resolve melted.

I'll go, she finally announced. She never was one to be able to say no to Franny. Being the hottest club in town made it the most exclusive, meaning the chances of them getting in were slim to none anyhow. We won't get past the front door, she thought to herself smugly, so nothing to worry about. She took a bit of comfort in that.

It's not like they weren't attractive women, because they both were. While she was known for her dark, mysterious beauty, Franny was all sex appeal. Franny had a hot curvy body and perfectly-sized plump breasts, and she was simply fun and exciting to be around. Despite their looks, the truth of the matter was that they weren't on anybody's A-list and there were a hell of a lot of women who looked better. So, she'd humour Franny; at least then she couldn't be accused of being a square again. Trinity chuckled to herself.

    You'll go?

    I'll go, she confirmed.

Super! Franny clapped her hands together, her eyes shining. Hurry and drink up, we need to go shopping.

Shopping? She did not realize agreeing would mean having to go shopping. What's wrong with my current closet of club clothing?

"It's Club Vampire, Trinity. Last time
