    Found on My Journey

    By Marlo Peterson

The pelting of rain against my tent felt like ice daggers, slicing through my mind and keeping me awake. They beat repetitively to a rhythm of their own, as I clutched tightly to my covers, feeling naked and exposed to the elements.

    I was alone.

I’m a stranger in an even stranger land, with only a tiny tent shelter keeping me from whatever monsters were in the wilderness just a few feet away.

As the rain began to subside, I curled up under my blankets, thanking the heavens that I had survived an onslaught of bad weather that could have been worse. Now, aside from the cold of the ground beneath me, which I still felt through blankets and clothing, I just prayed that there were no beings out there that meant this poor little rich city girl in the wilderness any harm.

I see a sweet, solemn, affirmation
