About this ebook

Tia Simmons can’t wait to be Mrs. Charles Robinson. She has everything planned, from the venue to the caterer, making everything completely perfect. Or, so she thought. When she hires Camille to be her wedding coordinator, paranoia comes into play when she thinks her best friend is trying to sabotage her wedding. Along with the issues she’s having with Camille, she also has to deal with her new extended family, making her wonder if she’s going nuts. But when unexpected news shatters Tia’s world, she’s not sure if she should tell anyone about it or if she should keep it to herself until the wedding is over.

Charles Robinson is totally in love with Tia and would do anything for their special day. Whatever Tia wants, he’s in agreement with. Except hiring Camille as their wedding coordinator. When issues clash between the three, will it test their friendship? Along with the issues he’s having with the reappearance of his father and a brother who can’t be trusted, Charles has to wonder which is more important – trying to do the right thing or being happy.

    About the Author

    Chapter 1: Tia

Love. For some, it can be a pleasurable experience; while for others, it can leave a lifetime of hurt and pain. At first, I believed that love was for fools and could leave you with scars that stayed with you until the day you took your last breath. But now, I can gratefully say that my thoughts have completely changed. Now, I’m one of the lucky ones who is able to say that love is wonderful and beautiful.

I looked over at my fiancé and smiled. Charles Robinson is the epitome of perfection. Well, to me anyway. I stared at his smooth, chocolate skin, and his long eyelashes which covered his deep brown eyes as I watched him sleep. His full lips wore a slight smile; I’m sure he’s having a dirty dream about us. I touched his goatee, and a shiver shot through me. He was simply beautiful, which made me feel even more blessed that he was in my life.

He slowly opened his eyes and stared into mine, giving me a huge smile.

Shouldn’t you be asleep instead of staring at me? he asked.

I should, but looking at you is more entertaining.

    Why is that?

Because you’re even sexy while asleep,

Charles smiled and touched my skin. He slowly caressed my shoulder, then went towards my chest.

I should say the same about you, but you already know that.

I blushed and leaned towards him. I parted my lips as Charles held me, moving his hand to the small of my back. I moaned while he nibbled on my earlobe; he pulled me closer as I held onto him.

Can you believe that our friends are married? I asked, putting my head onto his chest.

Yeah, finally. Now, it’s our turn, which I cannot wait for.

Neither can I. You think we should just elope so we won't have to wait? I asked, then kissed his chest.

As tempting as that sounds, I know you would want a wedding.

Maybe so, but I just want to be your wife, I replied, kissing his lips.

After we watched our friends Camille and Trevor Williams get married, we left their reception and decided to go to Charles’ place and spend the rest of the evening together. Being with him never became old. I didn’t care if we stayed in this bed for eternity; just having him beside me was the best feeling ever.

I know we talked about this before, but I went ahead and asked Camille to be our wedding coordinator.

Charles looked at me with a curious glance. Seriously? I don’t know about this, T. I told you when you mentioned it that it wasn’t a good idea.

Why not? Cam is our friend, so I don’t see what the big deal is.

There are a lot of reasons why I think it’s a bad idea. I’ll give you some. First, the venue.

    What’s wrong with the venue?

You chose The Crystal Ballroom. If I remember correctly, that was the venue Camille was going to use for her wedding.

Okay, so maybe when I went with her to look at the venue I was impressed. I don’t think Camille would have a fit over it.

Charles shook his head while propping his elbow up on the bed. He touched my cheek, giving me a tender caress.

Baby, I just don’t want anything petty to go down between you two. You have known each other since preschool. I’m pretty sure she enjoyed the wedding Trevor surprised her with, but she may have some unresolved issues around the wedding she imagined. I just don’t want you to throw anything in her face regarding it.

So you’re saying I should deny what I want and my feelings to accommodate Camille? You’re truly delusional if you think that. Besides, Camille is not the jealous type. She will be happy for me and the decisions I've made for the wedding. Now, why don’t we move on to another topic? I said as I moved up to Charles’ ear. I gave it a little pull with my teeth, and he moaned.

    What topic would that be?

You’ll see, I said and pulled myself up. Charles lay on his back as I got on top of him.

I love this topic already, he replied with a smile.

I figured you would. I leaned forward to kiss him.

Charles ran his fingertips down my back, giving me a thrilling sensation. He looked at me as I went into his nightstand and pulled out a condom. Although he wanted us to stop using them, I told him I'd rather wait until we said I do before taking that step. Yes, I love him, but I wanted him to be my husband in every form before we go down that road.

I tore off the wrapper and placed the condom on him as I prepared to slide him inside of me. I was ready for him and the pleasure I was about to experience, but that thought quickly faded when the doorbell rang.

    Who is that? Charles asked.

I shrugged my shoulders as I moved from him. The doorbell rang again, and he threw on a shirt and a pair of shorts that were in a nearby armchair. I watched as he went to the door, wondering who would be ringing his doorbell at 10 at night.

He opened it, which immediately led me to put a hand over my mouth. I knew who the person was from the countless photos I’d seen of Charles’ siblings.

This definitely was not going to be good.

    Chapter 2: Charles

Love. With the way my life was heading, I didn’t think I would ever experience it. I thought it was a figment of my imagination, considering the history I had with women. When Tia hurt me 13 years ago, I thought the chance of us being together was hopeless. Although I'd lived my life unfocused and not caring about being in love, she’d done the same. Now, after sorting out our feelings, we were able to reconnect, and we are happy, truly and utterly in love. I don’t ever want to live my life without her, and now, I won’t have to think about that ever again.

In the past year, we had grown, learning more about ourselves and each other. I realized she was everything to me. I would walk through fire for her. Hell, I would even die for her. That’s how much in love with her I am.

I could say part of my theory on love was contributed by none other than my father, Dwayne Robinson. He walked out on my mom when I was seven-years-old because he fell out of love with her and moved on with his secretary. Today, he was happily married to the same woman and had three kids who I just now wanted to get to know after 25 years. After all he had done to my mother and me, I couldn’t stand the sight of him. To this day, I still held a lot of animosity towards him, and I hope I would never have to speak to him again.

Color me surprised when the person I despised most was standing on my damn doorstep. He gave me a solemn expression as he took a deep breath.

    Hello, son.

Dwayne, I said with a heated look. The name father would never come from my lips, considering he was never one to me to begin with.

    Can I come in?

How in the hell did you know where I lived?! I yelled, knowing I shouldn’t since I did have neighbors. I was sure they would be coming out of their doors any minute now.

Son, can I please come in and talk to you?

No. I don’t have anything to say to you, so you can turn around and leave.

I understand you’re upset with me, and believe me, I deserve it, but if you let me talk to you –

I interrupted him. Where were you 25 years ago when I wanted to talk to you? When I was asking Mama where you were? Where were you when I couldn’t understand why you left us?

I was slowly turning back into that seven-year-old boy who asked my mom where Dwayne disappeared to. That was the lowest feeling ever, realizing he had started a brand new family and didn’t care about the one he left behind.

I turned around and noticed Tia standing in the bedroom doorway. She had tears in her eyes as she watched Dwayne and me. I turned back to him. I figured that I probably didn’t need an audience in the form of my apartment complex. I cleared my throat and stared at him.

How did you know where I lived?

Gerald told me. I’m sorry I just showed up here unannounced, but I didn’t have your number, so I took a chance.

I sighed, realizing my newfound brother ratted me out. After Tia and I officially became a couple, I decided to reach out to my siblings, Gerald, Donald, and Shannon, to form some sort of bond with them. I decided that what happened between our parents wasn’t their fault. We instantly clicked, which was great since I'd always wanted siblings. They even took a liking to Tia, and we all hung out when we had time. Now, I wish I hadn't told them anything, especially my address so they couldn’t have let Dwayne know where to locate me.

Don’t blame Gerald for this; he didn’t mean any harm.

I’m sure he didn’t, but I wish he would have told me before you found your way over here.

And what if he did? Would you have been prepared and not answered the door? I’m pretty sure you have a peephole. I know you looked through it, so evidently, you wanted to see me.

I rolled my eyes and opened the door wider for him to come in. When he walked in, he saw Tia standing by the bedroom. He gave her a small smile, then went into the living room.

    Hi, Mr. Robinson, she said.

You must be Tia. It’s great to finally meet you.

Likewise, she replied as she extended her hand out to him. Instead of a handshake, he gave her a hug.

I looked at the scene, rolled my eyes again and walked to the couch. He would not try to win me over by sucking up to my fiancée. Not going to work with me.

I’ll let you two have some time to talk, she said.

    No, baby, stay, I countered.

From the talks we had back in high school to even now, Tia knew everything that Dwayne had

done, so I wanted her to stay with me. Besides, I needed her by my side in case I did something irrational to him. I was planning to any second now.

    You sure? Tia asked.

I nodded and went over to her. She gave a small smile as I held my hand out to her. We walked over to the couch and sat down opposite Dwayne, who was in the armchair near the TV.

Would you like anything? Water, soda? Tia asked him.

    I’m fine, thank you.

"Let’s get down to it. Why are you here? And please don’t say because you saw the light and want to establish a relationship with me. That ship
