- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Action packed suspense novel. A Detroit detective, Charlie, and his family go on vacation to Disney World. On the 2nd day of the trip his wife and children are kidnapped by a wealthy psychopath. Charlie has to go through several trials put on by the psycho. The psychotic man is looking for someone who can best him in mind games. Unfortunately for him it appears that he has finally met someone up to the task. Upon realizing this he escalates the game. Unbeknownst to him his daughter who is now a CIA agent has joined forces with Charlie in the search for the man. Very quick read and action packed. Kind of reads like it's a movie or wants to be made into a movie or based on a movie. All using Disney World as a back drop.

It was hell on Earth—in Canada, of all places.
The noise was nearly deafening. It sounded like the end of the world. I could just make out the agonized screams of the wounded and dying over the staccato thunder of more automatic weapons than I’d ever heard in one place. I could hear the concrete being chipped away from the low wall that I was taking cover behind—it wouldn’t hold out much longer. Soon, I’d be forced to make a decision: stand and fight, or die.
Yet I was unafraid.
I was here for a reason, and time was running short. I’d be damned if I was going to waste that time being afraid. Besides, I had something that the bad guys didn’t: X-ray Team.

Watch your step, big guy,
I warned, but of course he didn’t listen.
I watched as my dear friend and teammate, Kalani, ignored my thoughtful advice and tumbled face first from the helicopter, falling three feet to the ground and landing hard on his chest. I could swear that he bounced when he hit, though he’d deny it if you asked. But Jesus, that had to fucking hurt.
You know I love hearing myself talk,
I teased. But this time I really was trying to help you out.
Yeah, yeah,
he said, dusting himself off and acting like nothing hurt. "Thanks a lot, Victoria." He said my name with such venom that I couldn’t help but smile.
After a few laughs from the rest of the team, we began the short walk to the safe house.
Calling this place a house
was being extremely generous. It was basically a glorified toolshed in the middle of a clearing in the woods. I’d never been to this particular safe house before, but I had the key. In fact, I never left home without it.
I walked up to the door and placed my thumb over a faux-peephole that had been mounted lower than usual. Nobody was peeking through—that would have been impossible. Instead, a small scanner analyzed my thumbprint and unlocked the door once it recognized me as a Company operative.
Technology these days...fucking incredible, isn’t it?
Inside, we found almost nothing. The single room of the house
was bare, save for five wooden barstools and a cheap plastic folding table with a portable DVD player sitting open atop it. Without a word, we each claimed one of the stools.
I didn’t waste any time before firing up the DVD player to start the message.
The CIA doesn’t have as much money as the movies would have you believe, so this was certainly no Spielberg film but a one-shot, unedited piece of raw footage that featured a man in a suit with his face blurred out. The censorship, of course, was for security reasons—we knew exactly who it was.
Director Harold Margrave: the biggest fucking asshole on the planet.
Hello, X-ray Team,
he greeted from the small screen. This message was supposed to have been received by midnight, but I’m assuming you’re watching this well after two AM.
It’s not even ten o’clock,
Mason, our technological wizard, protested.
Margrave’s recording continued.
As you are already aware, there’s a...situation near Elkridge Bay on Prince Edward Island. We’ve lost contact with an agent who was trying to infiltrate a meth camp.
Meth camp—that’s a thing now?
I asked with a laugh, even though I
