      Chapter 1

      8 seconds. That’s all it takes for Thad to find himself in love. And at 18, the only thing he has is his apartment, his love for books and his job at the bookstore.

      At the rate he goes, he takes care of his job like it’s no issue in the first place. As he works, he hums. And he watches as people begin to make asses of them just so they could get settled for an author’s arrival.

      Thad didn’t understand that. He has nothing else to do and he has finished putting up the last of the books that would fit on the shelf.

      And as he works on fixing the ones in the wrong spots, he knows people can be such geeks for some authors. Like that Nicholas Sparks dude. Someone needs to get over themselves. It’s not all about God bringing people together. It’s fate. Nothing more than fate.

      And nothing more than fate has taken over Thad’s life in the next few moments.

      Chapter 2

      Nolan enters the bookstore and gazes at the table of his own books that he’d written for the better part of 4 years spread out. People are sitting down with copies of his novels in their clutches. It brings him excitement and worries at the same time.

      Then he spots a man working on the shelves and occasionally glancing at the crowd. What’s that all about? he asks.

      Some hotshot author is doing a tour stop here.

      Tell me. How is it that a man like you hasn’t been snatched up by someone yet? Nolan asks. The man blushes. I’m just no anyone else’s type I guess. No one is interested in an 18 year old that lives on his own and works 9 hours a day at a bookstore.

      Tell you what, Nolan replies. He pulls out a card and writes down his cell number and hands the card to the guy.

      You call or text me whenever you get off. I’ll make sure you remain off the market.

      Just how do you think you’re gonna do that?

      I’m gonna date you. When do you get off?

      In an hour.

      I’ll meet you outside. Take you home and then some.

      I’m Thad, the store employee introduces himself.

      I’m... Nolan manages to get out before a man peers around the corner.

      Nolan Novak, get your ass out here.

      He watches Thad’s eyes light up. The realization has hit him. Nolan just smiles, plants a kiss on his cheek, then turns the corner and goes up to the table he’s gonna sit at .

      Once he sits down, he takes a gulp of water and accepts the microphone handed to him. Welcome one and all that have shown up. It’s a pleasure to meet you here. So here’s what we are gonna do. I’m gonna read an excerpt, then we are gonna do a Q&A, then finally we’ll get to signing. How about that?

      The crowd gets rallied up and excited. He smiles but his mind is on Thad. Bending over to grab more books and standing up to get them  put up.

      He has a good feeling about Thad. Something tells him they are gonna be just fine together.

      Chapter 3

      Thad finishes his shift and heads out the door after having bought one of Nolan’s books. He just might take a crack at it. The one excerpt Nolan has read made him begin to think about things.

      Think about where his life is going and why it is not as rich as the characters in the book. When he meets up with Nolan, he sees Nolan is still dressed up in a monkey suit. But at the same time, the monkey suit accentuates his features. Brings them out.

      Thad finds himself thankful he’s wearing tight jeans fearing Nolan would see his boner.

      The man is simply beautiful. And there’s nothing more to it than what is going between the two of them. When he gets up to Nolan, he felts Nolan’s arms wrap around him and hold him gently. Ready to go home?

      Yes. Goddam my feet are killing me.

      Thad sees Nolan smile, then by Nolan’s gesture gets onto the bus and sits back in a chair.

      Soda?

      That would be great, Thad replies.

      Nolan provides him one and Thad pops the top open. He takes a drink and sets it on the nearby table.

      What’s your address? the driver asks Thad.

      Thad rattles of his address. We’re heading there now, the driver says as he sits down.

      Thad smiles. He feels all the more interested when Nolan sits down and wraps his arms around him.

      Lean forward. I’ll give you a massage, Nolan voices.

      Thad does so and feels the wonderful pressure of Nolan rubbing his back and shoulders. He cannot get over the boner he has for Nolan.

      The contact he’s getting doesn’t help matters. Makes him only wanna drag Nolan into his bedroom when they arrive and make sweet love to him.

      And he knows it’s only a matter of time before things get better. And God only knows it will get better.

      Chapter 4

      When they arrive at his house, Thad pulls Nolan down the steps and to his apartment. He opens the door and invites Nolan in then shuts the door quickly.

      I’m gonna be blunt with you, Thad voices.

      Go for it, replies Nolan.

      I wanna make love to you. To see you naked. But I’m afraid you don’t wanna go for it.

      What makes you think that? Nolan asks and sweeps him off his feet.

      Thad guides him to the bedroom and closes the door with a simple kick.

      They tear off each other’s clothes. Thad has been waiting for this for a while.

      He takes mental pictures of Nolan’s perfect gorgeous body.

      He knows it’s only a matter of time. Things are
