INTRODUCTION:
It is an herb and a living fossil. It is a genus of quite unusual flowering plant. It first appeared 250 million years ago and this clearly means that it is one of the oldest living tree species. In United States and Europe they are considered the best selling supplements as an herbal medication. It is also acts as an antioxidant and treats number of diseases.
As it is one of the oldest living tree species it lives up to 1000 years and has a height of 120 feet. The fruits grown are inedible and stinky and the inner seed is poisonous and can be fatal.
Chinese are now focusing on the standard extract from Ginkgo biloba which is prepared from dried green leaves. It is highly concentrated and this quality cures better than the non-standardized form of Ginkgo biloba.
Other names are Abricot Argente Japonais, Adiantifolia, Arbe aux Ecus, Arbe aux Quarante and many others.
