Willowbrook Writers
Leah Atkins I am 11 years old and I love to write stories because it’s really easy and I am always bursting with ideas! I also love to read. My favourite books are by Jacqueline Wilson. My favourite activities are reading, writing, horse riding, swimming, baseball and many many more. Amelia Bailey Meeow-hi! I am Cat Mad! If you are also Cat Mad and want to write a story too, but you’ve run completely dry of inspiration, just HAGD... that’s Have A Good Daydream. Just stop trying to find Inspiration and let Inspiration find you. Basically switch off – not during Times of Vast Importance, though – and wait to become Inspired. It may take a while, but it’s DEFINITELY worth it. Amrane Delloul I’m 11 years old. I’ve been writing books on my computer and giving them to the people I know, and every one of them told me to be an author. I thought I could and I think that being an author is so amazing. You have to think of what exciting adventures people could have – it’s just so amazing. Millie John Hi, I am 11 years old. If you want to publish a book but just can’t stay writing for more than one day, think about the most exciting part ... the publishing! I continued writing because I knew that my book would be, at one point, published. The thing that inspired me to write was reading. I just love reading! My favourite author is J K Rowling. Her books are so indulging! I just can’t put them down! Isabelle Lee I am 10 years old. I like writing, reading and gymnastics. I like writing books because it’s fun and you can let your imagination go wild. If you want to write a book, make the ending first, then the rest so you can conclude the ending easily. If you want to publish your book, take your time and enjoy it. Come on, reading is fun! Ella Lloyd I am 11 years old. I enjoy reading, writing, sewing and cooking. I started writing stories because I always got excited when we had to do a writing assessment in school. I enjoy writing because your story can be about anything. I often get my inspiration from people or things around me. My advice to anyone who wants to become an author is to not give up. My favourite authors are Jacqueline Wilson, David Walliams and Jeff Kinney. Emma McCarthy I am 11 years old. I absolutely love writing stories because it is a way to take people into history, teach people lessons and they are just fun to write. My favourite authors are Jacqueline Wilson, E R Reilly and Jeff Kinney. My favourite books by them are Diary of a Wimpy Kid (all of them) by Jeff Kinney, My Sister Jodie and Hetty Feather by Jacqueline Wilson, and Harriet the Horrible by E R Reilly. Ashley Orchard I love rugby and I’m pretty fast. Writing is fun and my favourite author is Roald Dahl. The hard part of writing is doing the hard words. The easy part is using my imagination. I enjoyed checking my word count. I like writing because it makes me full with joy. Robyn Pearce Hi, I’m 11 years old. I’m in the Willowbrook Writers’ Club, as you’ve probably guessed, and it’s awesome! It’s really exciting and amazing publishing a book, and I feel EXUBERANT! If you want to publish a book, the best and easiest way is to use Smashwords – it’s really easy! Oh, and never give up on a story, even if you start to get tired of it, or it’ll never get published! I’ve published some eBooks, and you can find them on Smashwords – they’re free so you can read them time and time again. I hope you enjoy my story, Ruined World. I’ve worked very, very hard on it. Tom Probert Hi. I love football and running; I am fast. My favourite authors are Jeff Kinney, Jacqueline Wilson and E R Reilly. Writing stories is very fun. It’s pretty easy to write a story but takes a long time. My story took me about 5 months to write, and if you read it I’m sure you will love it! Robyn Samuel I’m 11 years old and I love to write stories. It’s so much fun. It’s easy really – all you need to do is think of something you love, why, and then put it into a story. I got my inspiration for writing stories in a game I played when I was younger. My favourite activities are swimming and athletics. Summer Simmons I am 10 years of age. I love baseball, basketball, football, netball, writing, reading, music, my family and friends. I love going on holiday to different places. I read loads of different books. The authors I love are David Walliams, E R Reilly, Jeff Kinney and Roald Dahl. And the Illustrators Evan Farr I love to do art. It is fun and fab for me. It’s so hard to think of what to do! Over and out. Well not yet – I love to be in this book, so NOW over and out! Leah Gregory I did Isabelle’s illustrations. I enjoyed doing the drawings because I have never done anything like it. It’s really exciting to draw in a real book, I loved it! Zoe Hodgson I really liked doing Isabelle’s illustrations. I haven’t done something like that before, but I thought it was good and I find drawing really fun and relaxing. Sophie Michael I love art, that is why I chose to draw some pictures for Leah. When I am older I would like to be an illustrator or an athlete. Kaya Shaw I am 10 years old. I love drawing because it’s fun. Everyone in my family is good at drawing. Art is one of my top school lessons. I feel happy! and a final word from the editor ... Mrs S J MacDonald Hi, I’m a teacher at Willowbrook. I love writing and it has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with the Writers’ Club this year. I hope you enjoy their stories and that it may inspire you to publish your own writing, too!
