    Chapter 1

    I exited the taxi in front of my house and let out a deep, relieved sigh at finally returning home, though a part of me still lived in Switzerland. It was amazing that, after spending only a week there, I felt like I belonged in the Alps. After putting my skis back into the storage room, I brought my suitcase up to my room and started unpacking my clothes into my laundry hamper. I was quick to save the one item I had obtained on my trip, a long sleeve shirt I had filched from Gregor while he was showering. I brought the fabric up to my nose and took a sniff, memories flooding my mind of the time we first met.

    I had stumbled upon a relatively quiet bistro off the main square that had an amazing view of the Alps, surrounded by stunning architecture that made me feel like I had taken a step back in time. I took a seat at one of the few open tables and ordered an Irish coffee from the waitress. I dug into my shoulder bag for my book and pretended to read while I shamelessly people-watched.

    My attention was pulled away from the couple on the other side of the patio by a low baritone voice speaking to me in German. I looked up into dark brown eyes set into a stunning face. I smiled politely in apology and shook my head. I’m sorry, I don’t understand.

    He smiled in return and I was jolted by the surge of lust I felt with a complete stranger. I apologize, he said in perfect English tinted with a slight hint of German. I was just asking if I could join you at your table, since all the others are taken. He gestured around the patio, drawing my attention to the fact that the bistro had filled up while
