Superman hovered in the air, looking for danger. He smelled smoke. With his super-vision, he saw flames leap from the top floor of an old apartment building.
Sirens wailed as fire trucks rushed up the street. A woman ran down the sidewalk. My children are inside!
she cried.
She tried to run into the building, but a policeman stopped her. Another officer stared up at the sky. Look!
he shouted. Superman is here!
Oh, thank goodness!
the woman said, sobbing. She knew her children would be safe now.
Superman was the world’s greatest super hero. He was super-strong, faster than a speeding bullet, and had skin tougher than steel. Most importantly, Superman used his powers to help people.
