CHAPTER 1
GO-KART GLORY
Shawn Lewis kept his kart just inches behind the go-kart in front of him. He shot down the track straightaway and into the last lap of the race.
It’s time, Freddy,
Shawn said to himself. Freddy Stow was racing in the kart ahead of Shawn. It’s time for me to beat you again.
The crowd was going wild. There must have been 500 fans in the stands.
Shawn and the other drivers were competing in the Premiere Tire Cup. It was one of the most important kart races of the season.
The first person to cross the finish line would win $300. They’d also receive four brand new kart tires from Premiere Tire.
Shawn drove hard through the first turn. Then he stayed right behind Freddy’s kart through corner number two.
The two karts sped down the back straightaway. Just two more corners before they crossed the finish line. The rest of the cars were too far back to catch them.
