It’ll be fine, Andrew,
said Jimmy.
Jimmy, Andrew, and Mia leaned on the lockers across from room 212 of Ravens Pass Middle School. It was Wednesday morning, and seventh-grade math class was about to start.
Mia sighed. Seriously, Andrew,
she said. We’re talking about one test. One little, tiny test.
That’s easy for you to say,
Andrew replied. You two are probably failing math, anyway.
Hey!
said Jimmy. I have a solid C-minus.
Andrew ignored him. But I’m running a perfect A,

Mia glanced at Jimmy. Jimmy glanced at Andrew. Andrew glanced at Mia. He nodded.
Begin,
Mrs. Huckle said. All twenty-five students began the exam.

Forty-five minutes later, the three back-row kids left room 212. That went perfectly,
said Mia. You were great, Andrew.
Andrew shrugged. It was a tough exam,
he said. I think I did well.
Jimmy put one arm around Andrew’s shoulders. Of course you did,
Jimmy said. You’re a genius at math. Everyone knows it.
And now Jimmy and I are geniuses too,
Mia said with a giggle.
Andrew glared at her. We just better not get caught,
he said.
Mia waved him off. Mrs. Huckle didn’t have a clue,
she said. "She
