    Chapter One

Today, Axelrod Architecture is breaking new ground in our current markets by expanding overseas for the first time in the fifty years since our firm’s inception.

Jamie stared out the window, lost in her thoughts. She wanted to work on her designs, not sit in a boring meeting. Her boss, Matt, never seemed to understand the way a creative mind thought. He only ever focused on one thing and one thing only—the bottom-line.

We will be designing a new office tower in Dubai, and one of you will be traveling overseas as project manager. It is the biggest most exclusive contract we’ve ever had. I know my dad would have been proud, God rest his soul, and it’s because of you all that this is possible. The talent in this room is unquestionably the best in Texas and soon to be known as one of the best teams in the entire world, if I have anything to say about it.

White fluffy clouds that looked like everything from animals to rocket ships floated peacefully past the office window and Jamie dreamed of the things she wanted to create.

I have with me today Sheikh Amir Abu al Bari.

Jamie heard the room explode in applause and turned to look at the incredibly handsome dark haired man at the front of the room. Impeccably dressed, he had a slight smile on his thin brown lips, which seemed to imply he had a secret. His jet-black hair and piercing eyes captured her attention fully. The sheikh would like to say a few words. Mr. Abu al Bari, please.

The sheikh stepped forward with a bow.

Good morning. I am currently constructing the world’s largest office tower in Dubai. We will break ground in one month. This new building will house the Dubai Stock Exchange and will rival any building currently standing in the world. I am seeking the best architects in the world to assist me with my designs. My contacts assured me Axelrod Architecture is that firm.

    One month?

Jamie wondered how that could possibly happen if her firm handled the design. The plan wasn’t feasible.

    Excuse me.

The sheikh turned to look at Jamie.

    Yes?

None of the architectural designs have been rendered yet? Jamie asked.

Matt’s eyes grew wide and he stepped forward to answer her, No, Jamie, that’s where we come in.

    Jamie nodded.

    Why do you ask?

The sheikh stared intently at her now, which made Jamie feel slightly uneasy. Jamie looked over at Matt who seemed to give the nod of approval for her to answer his question.

Well, I don’t understand how you can expect to break ground in a month when none of the architectural designs have been rendered.

    Why not?

The sheikh appeared amused, a slight smirk stretched across his thin lips, as he appeared to hang on her every word.

Normally, it takes at least a month or two to complete a design that meets all the necessary codes and client approval.

The sheikh stared at her. He probably hadn’t seen a real red head before.

From time to time, she found men and even women staring at her. Her Irish background had been a blessing to her in the looks department. Jamie realized it and used her assets to her advantage.

Matt’s eyebrows raised and he immediately jumped in. "We’ll be working on this project around the clock in order to have the building fully designed in a week. We’ve certainly done this kind of work before. It won’t
