I believe in Happily Ever After. I'm always looking for the silver lining and hope to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I find life absolutely hysterical sometimes and try not to take myself too seriously. I also love watching sports- football, hockey, baseball. I read romance, but I also love a good mystery thriller. When Hearts Fall - G. Whitman

    Chapter 1

GAB, WHY AREN’T YOU packing the two-piece bathing suit? Ashley picked up the pieces off the bed.

Because, Ashley, I already have two packed.

Oh, I don’t know. It’s just two small pieces. It won’t take any room in the suitcase.

Will it make you happy if I pack it? Gabrielle asked to appease her friend.

    Yes.

    Then I will pack it.

    Yeah.

Is that how you get around your fiancé, Nick, hounding him to death? Gabrielle asked.

I don’t need to get around Nick, by the way. Ashley’s hands were on her hips and she had her stern face on.

I’m sorry, Ashley. I didn’t mean anything by it. Let’s face it, you tend to get your own way.

"Well, I can be persuasive. Ashley annunciated the last word. They looked at each other and burst out laughing. I didn’t pick our honeymoon."

And why Hong Kong? Who picks Hong Kong as a honeymoon destination?

Nick said it’s somewhere he just always wanted to visit, and I thought, why not? We may never get the opportunity again.

Makes sense, I guess. Nick doesn’t mind you taking a trip with the girls? Gabrielle asked.

No. Plus it gives him time with his friends. Listen, if we had trust issues, then we shouldn’t be getting married. The words had already come out of Ashley’s mouth. She saw the hurt look on Gabrielle’s face.

Or sometimes, we trust too much and easily get blinded by the lies.

Joe was a certified rat bastard. Gabrielle had planned a New Year’s Eve wedding. What she didn’t know was that he had been screwing around the whole of their two-year relationship. When Joe suggested she meet him for a drink and found a secretary from his office also having a drink, she thought nothing of it. The bar was near their work. Everyone met there. In hindsight, there were other signs, all of which she missed. Now she wasn’t sure she didn’t want to miss them.

When she found him and their neighbor bent over their couch screwing like two dogs in heat, she had turned and run. Gabrielle wasn’t sure how she got to the coffee shop, only that she had called her friend Gina to come get her. When Gina arrived with Sarah and Ashley in tow, she had a complete sobbing breakdown.

Gina and her husband had let her stay until she found this loft apartment. While not a lot of square footage, it looked bigger because of the openness and tall ceilings. It suited her. She never saw Joe again. She hired one of those professional movers who packed everything. Gabrielle made a list, and they packed. Not that she cared, but she was sure that it left Joe with no pots and pans to cook with.

You should wear a two piece more often.

What? Gabrielle hadn’t heard anything Ashley had said while she let herself wallow in her ‘Joe’ thoughts. Time to turn the page.

You’ve got a great body. Show it off.

That’s exactly why I don’t wear it. If something were to happen, I don’t need the whole world seeing my business.

Oh, please. It’s a two-piece suit and not a string bikini. Your suit covers everything. Show a little more of those C cup, and who knows.

    Who knows indeed?
