    "I am referring to the one playing across your face while you watched." He smiled and Cassie felt her stomach turn somersaults. Even with the mask covering half his face, she knew he was handsome. She knew he was without a doubt, a dominant man, but somehow he set her at ease.
    "It was…captivating."
    "You’re new at this."
    "Very—I don’t really know if it’s for me."
    "There’s only one way to find out." He gestured toward an empty room.
    "Oh—no, I um—may I have my drink please." She whispered.
    "No, you’ve had enough. You’re here tonight to discover if this is something you’d like to pursue and you can’t make that decision if you are drunk off your beautiful ass."
    "How do you know that’s why I’m here?"
    "You reek of indecision. I can help you discover what you’re seeking. All you have to do is join me in that room."
    "Wh-what will you do?"
    "You’ll just have to come find out for yourself. But if we do go in there, we keep our masks on and we never have to know names or identities. Deal?" He grinned, moving across the vestibule into the lone empty room.
    Cassie wished she had her champagne for some liquid courage. She desperately wanted to follow him, but she didn’t know if she had the nerve.
    She gazed around the room and before she could even think it through, she followed him in and shut the door behind her...

      Chapter 1

      Cassie Brooks stared through the glass walls of the conference room, waiting for Coleman Pierce to arrive. She tapped her pen anxiously, going over her presentation in her mind for what seemed like the thousandth time.

      Cassie, for goodness sakes, will you stop fidgeting and focus! You’re going to do just fine! Her assistant's voice was low even though they were the only two in the room. Linda always kept her calm, but Cassie really needed to land this client and she was feeling the pressure.

      Your proposal is flawless and you look fantastic.

      Mr. Pierce won’t care one bit how I look, as long as my presentation knocks his socks off.

      Coleman Pierce. Linda sighed wistfully, watching as he crossed the outer office to speak with his exotically beautiful receptionist. He’s certainly a sexy, sexy man, I'll give him that much.

      Linda! Cassie stifled a giggle. She had to agree, the man was nothing short of incredible.

      He is a well-known perpetual bachelor, but he is also some serious eye candy. So you go do your thing and be brilliant and I will sit here quietly and ogle him. I'll consider it a definite perk of the job.

      I really need this account. Cassie sighed, standing to review her presentation boards one last time.

      You are a talented architect and even though you’re a woman struggling to make it in this big ass all male firm, you can do this!

      Alright, alright, I have been sufficiently pep-talked.  Cassie grinned.

      Coleman Pierce was a wealthy real estate developer planning a large scale luxury condominium project in several major cities across the United States. He was actively looking for a principal architect and Cassie thought she was the right woman for the job. If she could land the Pierce account, it would take her one step closer to becoming the first female partner of her firm. 

      Good afternoon ladies. Sorry to have kept you waiting. Coleman Pierce smiled as he swept into the room.

      Cassie hadn’t realized she was holding her breath until she saw stars. Linda was right; he was one sexy son of a bitch. He was tall with wavy dark hair and intense, midnight blue eyes, a broad chest and narrow hips. Her heart skipped a beat as his cool hand clasped hers. He wasn’t the business suit professional type. He was still only in his early thirties, wealthy and successful, so it was his prerogative to wear whatever the hell he wanted.

      Today, he was dressed in jeans, a well-worn t-shirt and, weirdly, some kind of flip-flops, that Cassie could only assume would be the most expensive and exclusive flip-flops ever produced. He looked like he’d just rolled out of bed after a hard night, rather than having come straight from an important board meeting.

      Pleasure to meet you Ms. Brooks...I do hope it’s Ms.? He arched his brow quizzically; as if it might actually break his heart right then and there if it turned out she was a Mrs.

      Happily a Ms., thank you. Her words came out breathy and husky. She flushed to the roots of her hair.

      Jeeze Cassie, get it together. She desperately needed to get through this presentation without making a complete fool of herself.

      Shall we begin? Cole positioned himself at the head of the table where he proceeded to prop his feet up on the glass before turning his attention to Cassie, his cool gaze giving nothing away.

      Cassie paced to the front of the room, reaching to adjust her blouse. She’d spent hours agonizing over what she should wear for this very important meeting. She wanted to appear professional yet still feminine, trendy, but in a classy way. She ultimately decided on a narrow pencil skirt with a daring slit, paired with a red blouse that emphasized her trim waist and curvy hips. She kept her jewelry simple and her heels high, leaving her dark hair loose around her shoulders.

      She began her presentation, stumbling over her initial sentences as she tried not to meet his amused gaze. Eventually she
