    Katie was reading about cowgirls. They looked so happy on their horses.

    Yippie-yi-yo! Katie sang. Riding a horse looks cool!

    Guess what I want for my birthday? said Katie. A horse! I’ll feed him carrots and ride him in the yard.

    Our yard is too small, said Katie’s mom. Horses need a field, and they cost a lot of money.

    I have money in my piggy bank, said Katie.

    But it was not enough.

    Katie told JoJo, If I had a horse, I’d ride as fast as the wind!

    Horses are big, said JoJo. I might be afraid to ride one.

    Not me, said Katie.

    Katie wrote a poem in her journal:
