About this ebook

When Apostle Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 10:12 he must have witnessed some kind of overconfidence in his audience. This book echoes Apostle Paul who warned "Whoever thinks he is standing firm had better be careful that he does not fall". Is it necessary to heed the warning of 1 Corinthians 10:12? Is there any need to worry about the possibility of falling? Is it possible to be sure that one is standing firm? How can this standing be measured? These and other issues are explored in this timeless book that God will use to open the awareness of each reader to the reality of the battle in which we are engaged, beyond theory.

    Chapter 1: Attacks must come

The human life is filled with mixed moments. Sometimes, we are so happy but some other times we are not so happy. Life is full of ups and downs and like it has been constantly said life is a swing and it really is.

Many times we humans rely on our wishes and we want to be happy every time. We therefore do all it would take to be happy. However, there is a difference between the ideal and the real world. In the real world, people must suffer and they do, even when they do not deserve to.

The question then is why do we have to suffer in the real world. The simple, yet uneasy answer is that, the real world has the devil as one of the residents and by nature the devil is the master of troubles and woes.

The Bible tells us in Revelation 12:12 And so be glad, you heavens, and all you that live there! But how terrible for the earth and the sea! for the devil has come down to you, and he is filled with rage, because he knows that he has only a little time left. Earlier on in Revelations 12:7-9, we are told that, there was war in heaven and we know that the devil was the one who caused the war in heaven by his inordinate ambition to overthrow God's authority, (as also written in Ezekiel 28: and Isaiah 14:12-15)

The devil or Satan as he is otherwise known was once an angel in heaven. God gave him tremendous power and control over some of the routines in heaven. The devil derived his power, influence and authority from the benevolence of God, the Great Jehovah. There were other important angels in heaven besides Satan (Lucifer). Angels of good news like the wonderful Gabriel and of course, warrior angels like magnificent Michael, the Prince of angels.

When Satan decided to rebel against God, he did not do it alone. He did it in agreement with some angels in heaven. He probably influenced them or manipulated them. How wrong they were to have thought that they could overthrow God. As a result of this unholy event, Satan and his rebel angels were sent out of heaven. In actual fact they were chased out and cast to the earth.

From Revelation 12:12 we can see that his absence from heaven was a great relief to heaven and the residents of heaven. Revelations 12:12 says And so be glad ye heaven… This could be interpreted to mean that the heavens and the inhabitants (citizens/residents) were not happy until then. Now, they can afford some gladness, why? Because Satan the main cause of sadness in heaven, had been sent down to the earth). The trouble must cease when the troublemaker leaves. One can imagine that the heavens and the host of heaven would have thrown a big party that day in celebration of the end of their woes and sadness. Whilst they could have celebration in heaven as a result of the downfall of Satan, Revelations 12:12 tells us that those on the earth are in for a terrible time.

With the devil now around imagine how terrible it must be for the earth and the sea and those living there? If angels fought so hard to push the Devil away, how much fighting can mere mortals put across? It is bound to be really tough, and it is.

The devil did not come alone, he was sent away with his unholy angels. These unholy angels are known and called demons and they represent the devil here on earth. In the real world, with the devil and his angels as residents, life cannot be any easier no matter how one wished otherwise because this devil is by nature wicked and dangerous. He came down with rage. We are told further in Revelations 12:12 that the devil knows that he has a limited time left before the end shall come. As a result of the shortness of time, the devil is really moving fast to afflict as many people as possible before his time is finally up. How much time he has is unknown to us but the devil knows.

You may wonder why problems are popping up everywhere, everyday like popcorn, you need not wonder further, the reason is that the devil knows his time is almost up and he has to destroy as much as this time would permit.

The real world is the world of realities. Yes, spiritual realities beyond theory! The real world is where demons operate, in obedience to their master, Satan, causing hardships and untold sufferings in the lives of many otherwise happy and innocent people. The real world is the warfront with the devil. Is everyone involved in this struggle? Somehow, everyone is one way or the other involved in battle with Satan. It is either that you are for the devil and he is using you to bring suffering into the lives of people or you are the one being attacked. In the real world, there is no opportunity of sitting on the fence. You cannot be non-aligned. You must belong either way, and whichever way, you are bound to suffer. If you are being used by the devil, someday he will dump you and punish you. If on the other hand you refused to be used by the devil, he fights you straight away.

Being in struggle against the devil has nothing to do with whether you are good or bad. Satan does not care how good or kind you are before he attacks you. It is Biblically recognised in Psalm 34:19 that ...many are the afflictions of the righteous … The more righteous you are the greater the punches you receive from the enemy but that is not the end because God will deliver every righteous person from such afflictions. Sometimes we deserve to
