A T BEAUNE brings a rich background in the performing arts to poetry and storytelling. His first novel, ‘Baltimore Nocturne,’ begun as he completed graduate studies in music at Johns Hopkins University, was awarded a Baltimore Writers Alliance award for fiction. His lyric poems and stories have since been featured in syndicated Baltimore Symphony radio broadcasts, in audio tracks and concerts, and in publications by the Taiwan Poetry Collective, Dancing Shadow Press, and the International Lewis Carroll Society. His popular song lyrics, set to music by John Budrevo, are available on international streaming platforms. His e-books are distributed by major booksellers.A T Beaune has performed on stage, in film, and on radio in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. As an actor he is best known for his supporting role as a British tea merchant in Chunyang Lin’s ‘Gold Leaf,’ an acclaimed Taiwan dramatic series. The story by Juliana Hsu and Guo-Hua Huang is inspired by the real-life struggles of a Hsinchu tea-growing family through Taiwan’s tumultuous twentieth century. Cindy Lien, James Wen, Tzu-Chien Kuo, Sophia Xing Li, Wilson Hsu, and Simon Hsueh lead an acclaimed cast. Produced by Ching-Yun Hsu and Sheng-Jung (Phil) Tang, ‘Gold Leaf’ took the top spot on Netflix upon its release, set a record for nominations at the 57th Golden Bell Awards and garnered top honours for Ms Li.Media stories A T Beaune has written and directed include the minimalist comedy ‘Shoe Story’ starring Dora Lo, James C H Lo, and Wen-Chieh Chi with sound design by Tzu-Xiang Chen. ‘Shoe Story’ in both language versions has won multiple international awards since its release, including Best Actress honours for Ms Lo and Ensemble Acting Awards for the complete cast; the film has also taken awards for Comedy Short, Mobile Film, Postmodern Film and Experimental Film.‘Melodia,’ a new short film, is now in festival release. Made in collaboration with Laticia Fan of f/Lash Productions, ‘Melodia’ stars Yi-An Chen with pianist Chung Hua Weng performing the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. The film also stars Aaron Don Don, Dora Lo, Anna Tian, Manav Mehta, Hank Yu, and Jia Lin Chen. The film has been honoured with an award at the 2024 Mannheim Arts and Film Festival, selected for screening at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Film festival, and included in the Film Market Video Library of the 2023 Palm Springs International ShortFest.A T Beaune’s title story from ‘1001 Nights & Other Short Stories’ has been adapted for ICRT national broadcast as ‘1001 Nights: The Radio Play.’ His short stage work ‘Flight 109’ recently brought the music of Taiwanese composer Sandra Tavali to audiences at the Taipei Shorts festival. He is director and producer of ‘Taiwan Photowalk,’ a photo story based on the music of Modest Mussorgsky. ‘Taiwan Photowalk’ was premiered in concert by the NTNU Symphony Orchestra conducted by Apo Ching-Hsin Hsu and online in a film featuring Peabody Conservatory alumna Shao-Hsun Chang performing the piano suite.
