Manolo Sanchez, a brave guitarist is determined to win the heart of his friend, Maria. But in the little town of San Angel, Joaquin, his best friend, wishes the same. Sadly, Maria's father sends her away to Spain to become a proper lady. But before Maria goes, on the Day of the Dead, two gods, La Muerte and Xibalba, make a bet on which boy will marry Maria. Will Manolo get his love, Maria? I liked this book because it is funny and there are happy moments. One happy moment was when Maria, Manolo, and Joaquin met after Maria came back from Spain, and a funny part was where Manolo played a song for Maria to convince her to love him, and Maria said ''Did you think it would be that easy?!'', and Manolo said ''Ummm, yes?''. I recommend this book to people who like comedy and adventure.
