    It was Dan’s last trip of the year. He’d already spent several months in Florida and Michigan at the branch offices of his family’s construction business in preparation for becoming CEO when his father retired. He was becoming weary of being away from his hometown of Denver and his beloved mountains. He was eager to complete this last trip, and he certainly was not interested in becoming involved with a woman. In fact, after dating many beautiful women, all of whom had failed to sustain his interest, he was convinced that he just wasn’t cut out to be in a long-term relationship. Then, he came to Charleston, South Carolina and was not only introduced to the charm of the Low County but also to the most beautiful, enchanting, and enticing creature he’d ever met in his life.

    Marisa had lived in South Carolina all her life and loved her Low Country. She was relatively content with the life she had carved out for herself in Charleston as an entrepreneur and shop owner and was enjoying her life with her two best girlfriends. A bad experience in high school had convinced her that she wasn’t pretty enough to be attractive to men. So, she protected her heart and her pride by professing no interest in dating. Then, a gorgeous stranger visited from Denver, and he piqued her interest as no one ever had. But, for Marisa, even daring to hope was almost too frightening to consider.
