UFO Activity In New York State
()
About this ebook
UFOs were reported in western New York with great frequency beginning in 1965. The towns of Parma and West Sparta in Livingston County were nightly hotspots for UFO observation. People drove their in large numbers. It was said that one was lucky to find space to park an auto during the evenings, for a time. My e-book describes UFO sightings in Dansville and Gloversville in 1966 and 1967, objects that were observed in Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties and many other eyewitness reports. Some of the observers truly believed in unidentified flying objects but most claimed to have been mystified by what they had seen. A Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student made a UFO detector which was battery powered. He said that he wanted to make it to earn extra money and to take advantage of what he considered a phenomena. There was certainly an uptick in reported sightings of UFOs in New York State during the eight years I have researched. Along with the eyewitness accounts of UFOs I have included biographical information about many of the people who were quoted in newspapers from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Many of them are still living but some are deceased.

The term Unidentified Flying Object was conceived in 1952 during a period of immense popularity concerning the notion of flying saucers. During the 1960s and 1970s the UFO phenomenon began to increase rapidly. During this era for the first time came extensive reports of UFOs landing. These disclosures coincided with detailed accounts of UFOs landing and strange-looking creatures emerging from inside the UFOs. In April 1966 New York state and local police from Clinton County to Wyoming County, New York reported rashes of calls from people who said that they saw a bright object moving across the sky. The date was Friday evening, April 22, 1966. The range of sightings extended from near the Canadian border to southeast of Buffalo. Most reports of UFOs stated that the object appeared soon after 7 p.m. The object was described as light blue in color. Its shape was elliptical and it moved quickly in a southerly direction.
Figure 1 Canada Meteor-Fireball, September 28, 2013 Curtis L. Hemenway, who directed the Dudley Observatory at 107 Nott Terrace in Schenectady, believed that the object was a meteorite. A Dudley spokesman said that the same meteorite that was visible in Wyoming, Lawrence and Chenango Counties, was also observed in Albany. Only three days later, on Monday evening April 25, 1966, Dansville residents spotted an object that streaked through
