About this ebook
Jan is a woman whose mother polluted her daughter's mind for half of Jan's life with her sexually repressive, distorted and demented views on love and sex since their first mother daughter talk when Jan was thirteen. Jan's mother attitude towards married sex caused conflict between experiencing the sexual satisfaction Jan craved and enjoyed with her husband, Jimmy, and pleasing her mother's repressive statements and ideas. At the height of passion with her husband Jan saw her mother's face before her and heard her call Jan a whore and slut. Jan's mother equated being a wife with being a prostitute. These were the demons that Jan took to bed. Jan no longer wanted to put herself in sexual situations where she suffered the demons' wrath yet she wanted the pleasures her husband aroused in her. She loved Jimmy so much she wanted a divorce so he could find a woman who wanted to make love with him, who wanted to share his bed. Jan and Jimmy in an effort to save their marriage and rid Jan of her demons the saw various therapists for over a year with no success. Jan finally gave up and asked Jimmy to divorce her. He did reluctantly. Jan's mother who drove her own husband away before Jan's birth finally succeeded in driving off Jan's husband. Jan and Jimmy remained strained friends for their two children's sake until Virginia, a school teacher, came along. Jimmy fell in love with Virginia and she with him. Jan's anguish increased when Jimmy told her he planned to marry Virginia. With the possibility of loosing Jimmy forever, Jan grew to hate her mother. A month before the wedding, Virginia announces she going to teach in California for nine months. When Jan heard that Virginia married a man in California she'd known for only a month, Jan's outlook towards Jimmy brightened. Jan's new therapist convinced her that part of the problem was her own fault for giving in to her mother and not fighting for her own survival. Jan invites Jimmy to a special dinner at the start of a three day weekend at which she wears a new red dress, red heels and nothing else. In spite of her mother words in her head she manages to seduce Jimmy, something she was never able to do before. By the end of the weekend, Jan’s demons vanished.

JAN'S ANGUISH,
A Love Story
JAN
My husband Jimmy and I walked hand in hand into the brilliant mid-morning sunshine. We stopped on the top step of the courthouse and I reached up and kissed him, a warm, tender kiss. To the casual observer we looked like a couple who just gotten married. We walked down the steps hand in hand. At the bottom step I turned right and Jimmy turned left. That casual observer would be wrong. We hadn't just gotten married, we'd just gotten divorced.
Jimmy is a thirty-three year old insurance salesman who owns his own agency he inherited from his father. He's six feet two, two hundred thirty pounds of solid muscle. His dark, wavy hair as well as his deep blue eyes are the envy of every woman I know. Jimmy played college baseball and several major league teams scouted him. He gave up his baseball dream when his father suffered a fatal heart attack and Jimmy took over operation of his father's insurance agency.
I'm thirty one, five feet four, a hundred twenty pounds, auburn hair, cobalt blue eyes. I have a thirty-seven, twenty-six, thirty-five figure even after having two children. I worked as a secretary until I got pregnant with Jimmy, Jr. He's eight now and our daughter Amy is seven. My father ran off before my birth. My mother raised me alone and that was my problem.
I met Jimmy at a party I wasn't allowed to attend. I was twenty-one at the time, Jimmy was twenty-three. I had to sneak out of the house because my mother didn't want me dating. She told me dating only leads to trouble. Maybe she was right. I met my date, Rod, at the party. He was already half drunk when I met up with him. He slobbered a wet kiss on my face half missing my lips and ran off. I think he was about to puke. He stank of alcohol. I sat in a corner thinking my mother was right.
Rod's best friend Alan came up to where I sat. Rod's hugging the porcelain goddess.
Porcelain goddess?
He's puking in the toilet.
Oh.
I'm going to get another drink
Alan said over his shoulder as he ran off in search of a drink.
Within a few minutes this tall dark haired man sat next to me. I couldn't help overhearing what that guy said. I'm Jimmy, by the way. I take it this Rod person was your date.
Yes.
I introduced myself.
You deserve better.
We made small talk for a while. Jimmy seemed very pleasant.
Jimmy turned to me. I'm hungry, I missed dinner. Would you like to get a sandwich or something with me?
Yes, but we'd better get out of here before Rod comes back.
He took me to an all night diner. In three months Jimmy and I were married in the same courthouse where we just got divorced.
The day after our wedding I thought I should tell my mother she has a new son-in-law. She went livid. She called Jimmy every foul curse word she ever heard and I believe even a few she made up on the spot. Jimmy's only reply: It's nice meeting you too, mom.
Fire came from my mother's nostrils
About a year ago, I made one of Jimmy's favorite dinners as I usually did when I wanted him to make love to me. I could never bring myself to seduce him, or any man for that matter. That's part of my problem. Jimmy's eyes lit up when he thought of the night ahead. It didn't happen often. It didn't happen that night either.
We sat catercorner at the table. Jimmy, Jr. and Amy are spending the night with friends so we can talk in private. I love you – I'm not happy.
Jimmy looked at me, a startled look on his face. What do you mean, you're not happy?
I'm not.
I started crying. Jimmy searched the debris on the dinner table and found a crumpled dinner napkin. He handed it to me and I used it to blot my tears. I love you but I don't want to have sex with you anymore.
Jimmy's mouth dropped open. What are you talking about, you don't want to have sex with me anymore? You enjoy sex once you get going. You turn into a very passionate woman. It's getting you going that’s the problem. You're always telling me you're satisfied. Were you lying to me?
No but my mother calls me a whore.
I wailed.
