INTRODUCTION
Star Synastry is the result of extensive study in the fields of astrology and psychology, particularly as each pertains to the study of couples. The main topic of this book is synastry, and its main purpose is to postulate a theory about astrological conjunctions as a marriage determinate. Synastry, also known as Relationship Astrology, is an advanced subject in the field of astrology that studies the interaction of planets and asteroids between two people, typically romantic partners. Synastry involves combining two birth charts into a single astrological wheel, and then interpreting the results. Synastry shows whether a romantic relationship has potential, and highlights what each partner can expect from the relationship. Star Synastry is best suited to individuals with experience in astrology, charts, and astrological terminology, and a basic knowledge of, or interest in, synastry.
Over the course of several years, I studied hundreds of synastry charts of dating, married, engaged, or divorced couples and found that when a couple has a conjunction between one of four personal planets – the Sun, Moon, Venus, or Mars – there is a 76.6% chance they will marry one another. While marriage is not the goal for all couples or individuals, it is still something many people aspire to. Love is universal and the search for love occupies a significant amount of everyone’s time, energy, and finances. There is a romantic fantasy attached to the idea of a wedding, and something within all of us that wants to know if we have met the one.
The study of astrological conjunctions can illuminate if dating partners have indeed met the one
or not, and can suggest whether someone will stay with their partner for many years, or a few months. By drawing attention to just four personal planets, there is some basic understanding of the dating relationship, sans the complexities involved in creating a full synastry chart. My method uses a simple table format to compare the planet placements for a couple, and does not require chart-reading skills. Partner compatibility and similarity is not limited to the degree of an orb, but spans an entire zodiac sign, so the conjunction theory – perhaps controversially - disregards the degree of separation between planets. The theory about conjunctions as a marriage determinate and the chartless aspect of my system makes synastry accessible to anyone. It is a quick and easy way of making comparisons and evaluations about a couple. A synastry chart is a necessary and integral part of astrology as it adds further insight into a romantic relationship. However, do you need a full synastry chart to determine whether marriage is a possibility in a partnership? No.
Most astrologers look at outer planets and asteroids in synastry, and while those can enhance a relationship, a long-lasting romantic partnership requires closer planet contacts. The outer planets of Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune are fast-moving and generational. This means that many people in the same age group will share the same sign placement the outer planets create, rendering them less significant. The same holds true for asteroids. There are over 21,000 named asteroids, so which ones do we look to for romantic compatibility? Some astrologers look at Eros and Psyche, some look at Juno and Ceres, some look at the couples' name asteroids, and so on. There are too many asteroids to make them statistically reliable or important as a marriage indicator. Couples in love will search for any evidence that supports their relationship, no matter how far that search extends. By looking at just four planets, it limits the possibility of overextending synastry and reaching for the conclusion(s) we want.
The charts in the study indicated that dating couples with conjunctions to any of their four personal planets significantly increased their chance of marriage. Couples with no conjunctions either never married, remained permanently engaged, separated after several years together, or divorced soon after marriage. The synastry charts in the study come from celebrities, politicians, and historical figures. Famous people are wonderful examples for studies because their birth data is publicly available, accessible to
