About this ebook

Stop living below the power of your privilege. As a child of God, you have the privilege of being in constant communion with God. Many people are intimidated by prayer. In this powerful book, Pastor Brad Riley offers three secrets to transform the life of an everyday believer into the life of a saint. You don't need to live with self-doubt and loathing because you don't feel adequate to be a strong person of prayer. The simplest of persons can be mighty in prayer, once these three secrets are understood and put into practice. Pastor Brad begins by describing what a real life of prayer looks like in the modern world. Prayer is not something reserved for monks or emergencies, or for quiet, boring lives; it is a part of our everyday, walking around lives. Prayer is the pathway to transformation. Forming the Spirit of God within us is the primary work of prayer. We don't pray to change God, we pray that God may change us. For real transformation to happen in our lives, we must have consistency, and accountability. Pastor Brad offers the reader an opportunity to connect with him as a Spiritual Father to help guide him or her into unleashing the power of prayer within them. Each book comes with a bonus material section in the back. The bonus materials are a complete rule of prayer to get you started in your new spiritual life.

    Introduction

Allow me to introduce you to a new phrase, a Liturgy of Prayer. You probably know what prayer is (at least on some level), but you may not be as familiar with the term liturgy. Liturgy is an oft-misunderstood word. It has often been associated with forms of worship believed to be dry, by those who don’t know its full meaning. The word liturgy comes from the Greek language meaning, the common work of the people. In the context of worship, we can see that liturgy relates to what we do together in worship of God, and how we do it. If liturgy appears dead, it is because it is done without proper understanding, and without passion. However, when properly understood as an act of humility before God, and performed with passion for love of God, it has the power to usher us into a new dimension, an objective dimension.

The phrase, liturgy of prayer is used in this book to mean a pattern of prayer on the part of the supplicant (the one praying to God). It is meant to give form and meaning to the reality of having a prayer life; it’s not meant to be repeated over and over without thought or passion. If you’re reading this and realize that you already have a wonderfully fulfilling prayer life, and you feel as though you commune with God in prayer throughout the happenings of your daily life, then my blessings on you! You are far ahead of many who will read this book. In fact, you probably have liturgy of sorts in your prayer life, without realizing it.

Prayer, like worship, is not a static or passive thing; it’s meant to be an active part of our being. As such, the experience of worship is often deeper and more meaningful when it involves all our senses, bringing our body into acts of prayer and worship, not just our mind. After all, the root word for worship in Hebrew means to bow down. Lighting candles or incense, or lifting one's
