About this ebook

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

Life's a you-know-what.
People fall in ruts.
We think our lives are over while we live them.
Our universal game
is to hunt for who's to blame
until the universe itself is unforgiven.

Now and then a human
who spies a space to bloom in
is gifted with uplifted points of view
that help us see beyond the skies
and the fear behind our eyes.
In this book, I share my blooming space with you.

Yours,
James

"…overflows with a novel kind of witticism and drunkenness that lovers of poetry, as well as those looking for words that inspire, will find interesting. [James] writes about common realities in a style that sings to the soul, and that will, most definitely, help readers find meaning and alter the way they look at life. It is riveting, enlightening, and, above all, highly entertaining."

James Sterngram

James Sterngram is a member of the Associated Individuals Desiring Enlightenment (Sometimes). AIDE(S) is a global prophet-making organization currently boasting roughly seven billion members. James earned his B.A. in Music and his money elsewhere (just a little, so far). He is not linked in with any facebook friends, but he hopes you like him anyway. His phone is not smart. FOR BEST DISPLAY RESULTS

    Many of today’s ePub-reading devices and apps are primarily designed to display novels. They sometimes disrupt or ignore poetry formatting, which aims to give each phrase its own, correct place in visible space and audible time. Clashes between this formatting and the numerous, varied display platforms can be easily fixed in most cases.

    If parts of the text are cut off or corrupted somehow, check the reading or text settings on your device or app. Look for an option to enable or turn on Publisher Defaults or Publisher Formatting. (In some cases the option may be to disable or override CSS Styles.) Changing these settings to enable my formatting or allow my styles should clear up the problems while still allowing you to change the text size as desired. Your reader/app user’s guide can provide more-specific instructions, if needed.

    A DOOZY

    (of a dedication)

    to Berta, Frank, and Marianne;

    to Mom and Uncle Harris;

    to Dudley, Dale, and Jane;

    to Allan, Ron, and Constance;

    to Dexter, Bear, and Bobby;

    to Linda, Viv, and Bonnie;

    to Dutchy, John, and Jon;

    to Maria and to Tia;

    most of all to Esperanza,

    who commands a starring stanza

    for appearances

    as angel, muse, and merry mortal Maggie:

    none of you identified

    by semi-private name

    bears the scars of global fame.

    Each is celebrated locally

    for having been a friend

    to this lowly, lucky Jim.

    Welcome, hopeful human,

    to my course in happiness.

    Will it help relieve hysteria?

    I pray the answer’s yes.

    I confess

    that I am even now attending it myself.

    I am hopeful

    that the student and the teacher will be helped.

    Your stripes and mine may clash,

    but I’m glad you’re in my class.

    I have classy friends. —Of which religions?

    I forget to ask.

    I won’t ask if you’re a Christian

    from this page until the last.

    I don’t hope for that.

    I hope we’ll both enjoy ourselves and laugh.

    I see both of us in heaven,

    where time and space collapse

    and we all are brought together—

    right in each other’s laps—

    letting go the ancient angel

    who divides all groups in two,

    each half saying to the other,

    "We are more elect than you,

    and we’re less divisive, too!"

    We may dwell in hell as well—

    in despair of all release.

    We may spend our mornings mourning

    fleeting periods of peace.

    Hell and heaven may be places

    where the living pitch their tents.

    Both locales will be explored

    in our joint enlightenment.

    With your kind consent,

    I now present

    the contents of my table,

    having set aside the gauntlet

    of the table of my contents.

    I would rather not encourage

    scattered browsing of my words.

    I suggest
