In this modern fantasy, a little girl is wishing on the silver ring that fell from the moon when her grandmother and her were outside looking at the moon. When she first wished on the ring, she went to the Arctic, where she got to swim with penguins and hangout with all these other animals. When she was about to go under the cold water, she wished she was out of there, and then she ended up in Africa, but the seal and a penguin came with her. She as riding a giraffe, when all of a sudden it started running too fast, so she wished she was in New York City. When she got there, she was with the penguin, the seal, and the giraffe. They all went to the top of the empire state building, so she could put the ring back on the moon. When she did, she wished she was back home with grandma. Then she was in her bed, just as the sun was coming up. She raced down stairs to tell everyone about it, but they all just told her that she had a great imagination. Everyone except her grandma who knew what really happened.

Lively" isn't the word for the illustrations - they're even more than that. The story seems thin and superficial, though. Maybe 2.5 stars."

Genre: FantasyCritiques: This is a fantasy book because the main character experiences unbelievable events of exploring different areas of the world in a believable setting. The plot is person against nature as Maxine explores the world around her. The introduction intrigues readers of Maxine's desire of exploration and end with a resolution of all her adventures being a dream. The events are fairly chronological, but seem to be a little scattered and don't always flow into each other.Media: pen, ink, and acrylic on 300-pound coldpress watercolor paper

Genre: Modern FantasyThis book is a good example of Modern Fantasy. The protagonist, Maxine, shares an imaginative adventure, which starts out realistic, but then turns into visiting various places, with various animals that couldn't actually occur. The point of view for this book is third person limited because it kept solely from the view point of the protagonist. We see other characters, but they are never viewed in the same way and are not the ones the story is based upon.

This is an example of a science fiction book. It defies scientific laws and experiments with time travel through a moon ring. Unimaginable discoveries and travels take place. The reader is engaged in the development of the plot. The plot is engaging and keeps the reader turning the pages. The plot would have to be person against nature because the main character defies the natural laws of the universe through time travel. The media used is mixed media, the iilustrator uses paints, penicls, collage, and others. The variety is used within each page. I would use this book in a primary classroom.
