While you worry that he may be dying and that every move you make to help costs him time he doesn't have. While the one elf you've come to see in the hopes of receiving aid — Elsen, Finn's friend — can't understand you and doesn't seem too keen on helping.
No wonder Ella is getting pissed, and a pissed Ella is a sight to behold — because now she has magic, strong magic that rivals Finn's, and she can barely control it. Between Finn's fever-induced nightmares and her own fury, they are sure to draw attention, trapped as they are in an underground city while the lethal wind rages outside.
With the elven Queen Adramar pulling every string in Aelfheim, it would be too much to hope that she doesn't take notice…

The Music (Episode 2 of Season 3) - Chrystalla Thoma

Cross the Gate with Finn and Ella into Aelfheim, the mythical world of the elves.

Leaving behind the intrigues of the Organization, Ella and Finn cross into Aelfheim. Finn’s plan is to throw the Dark Elves off his trail and investigate whether his mother is still alive. Unwilling to stay behind, Ella follows, determined to stay by his side, no matter what.

It’s a world plunged into an ice age, a frigid, lethal landscape full of nightmarish creatures — not to mention the elves — all of it a shock to Ella.

In Aelfheim, she is the outsider. Traveling with Finn who’s been ostracized by his people makes matters worse. As they venture deeper into elf country, Ella fears her presence will only complicate things for Finn.

Then again, in Ella’s book, there’s only one way to find out...

    Chapter One: Crossing

Fires sprang from the elven war machines crashing in the streets of the city; they lit up the dark of night. The dragon with her riders streaked beneath the clouds — and crossed the glittering Gate.

Into grey daylight, in a world under a vast, overcast sky. The dragon’s muscles contracted and unclenched under Ella’s thighs, and the great wings flapped, lifting them higher. The frigid air stung her face like a blade, bringing with it the fresh scent of snow.

They flew over a river that shimmered like poured silver, heading toward steep mountains, a wall of them lining the horizon.

Aelfheim. Home of the elves. A world of ice and snow.

Ella’s hands clenched around the dragon’s horns. It felt as if her skin was being flayed off her bones. Her face burned with the cold.

Keep your face down, Finn whispered by her ear, his breath hot on her neck. His hands moved to cover hers, long fingers curling over hers where they held the horns. Close your eyes.

That made sense, she thought as she dipped her chin and shut her eyes. Frostbite was a real danger. She wondered how long it took for it to take hold. If it meant her flesh would fall off. If her hands would remain stuck on the horns when she pulled away.

    Ew.

Random thoughts. All her mind was capable of right now.

    Aelfheim.

    Christ.

    With Finn.

This last bit soothed her nerves a little. She held on, the cold sending a huge shudder through her.

Easy, Finn breathed and she stilled.

Where are we going? she asked through chattering teeth.

    You’ll see.

Do you even know where we are? She turned her face to the side so he could hear her over the whistling air.

He said nothing, his warmth the only thing keeping her from shuddering out of her bones.

Lost half-way between dream and reality, she barely realized when they started their descent. She lifted her face.

The dragon flapped her wings as she spiraled down, into a small valley in the mountains. The air was like broken glass, cutting into her exposed skin of her face, hurting her eyes.

One mountain was made of dark rock, the other white. Squinting, Ella made out what looked like a huge heap of snow on one side of the valley, set against the steep dark mountain slope. Nothing else was visible in the white.

With a final flap of her wings, the dragon plunged down into the snow, talons gouging deep grooves in the whiteness. Ella’s hands ached with the impact, and then the dragon sprawled and spun, lifting clouds of crystals.

    The world finally settled.

The hell was that, Ella finally managed.

Finn lifted his hands off hers and sat back. Without his warmth, a full-body shudder hit her.

Fuck, it was goddamn cold. Her face really ached, the skin pulled too tight over her cheekbones, brittle like a layer of ice. Her hands hurt like a bitch.

Finn grunted as he shifted and twisted behind her, then slid slowly down the dragon’s neck until his feet touched the snow-packed ground. He staggered, made a grab for the dragon, and before Ella could lean down and reach for him, he snagged his hands in the scaly hide and steadied himself. Then he stood for a long moment, his head bowed.

Shit. What if he’d fallen and hurt himself — or worse? His knee was already shot to hell. In this lost place, with nobody around, if anything happened to him, how would she find help?

Then he looked up, white lines of pain around his mouth and eyes, and beckoned with his hand.

Ungluing her hands from the horns, feeling as if she’d left some skin, she slithered down the dragon and landed next to Finn. He grabbed her before she sprawled in the snow, steadied her until her legs could hold her again.

Finn... There was no shelter and they’d very soon be turning into icicles. Tell me you have a plan.

Finn put an arm over her shoulders and nudged her around, so they faced the great heap of snow set against the rocky slope.

She glanced sideways at him, then back at the snow heap. Am I missing something?

His eyes were a mere glitter under his pale lashes. There, he said.

Okay, she was definitely missing something, but as Finn took a step and his knee folded, she forgot to care.

    "Finn, lean on me.
