About this ebook
Instead of powerful forces storming Seattle, a more insidious invasion is happening. Most of Joanne Walker's fellow cops are down with the blue flu—or rather the blue sleep. Yet there's no physical cause anyone can point to—and it keeps spreading.
It has to be magical, Joanne figures. But what's up with the crazy dreams that hit her every time she closes her eyes? Are they being sent by Coyote, her still-missing spirit guide? The messages just aren't clear.
Somehow Joanne has to wake up her sleeping friends while protecting those still awake, figure out her inner-spirit dream life and, yeah, come to terms with these other dreams she's having about her boss .

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Continue to be impressed by the character development in this series. They interact, learn trust, admit mistakes, take those lessons to heart and do differently next time.
OTOH, Joanne blames herself for everything! That gets tiresome. And there's so much 'teenage angst' which is approximately the maturity level of her romantic entanglements. I was thrilled when the fighting started; it broke up most of the jealous whining.
And I was rather outdone with the choices she makes in the end... with her younger self, her job. But I guess that was part of accepting herself, shameful secrets, emotions, and history. And her power and possible future.
ABSOLUTE LOVE FOR GARY - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The world being developed here is fascinating - but i do believe of the three books this might be the worst one. I love the characters and the interactions but it lacks some clarity and in places emotional engagement.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Coyote Dreams is the third book in the Walker Papers series. The style and quality of this novel hold up to the first two in the series - good plot with connections to the overall story line and ongoing character development in a well told format. Jo continues to become more comfortable with her power, and origins of the damage to her soul / psyche start to become more clear. As in the previous novels, there is a bad guy du jour who must be dealt with. We also get more insight into her feelings for Morrison.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I never am sure how to evaluate the books in this series, because I understand so little of what is occurring. Joanne is the type of character who lives moment to moment, and still comes out smelling like roses. In the first book, this didn't feel like it would work for me, but now I'm quite used to it. The irony is that what used to surprise me so unexpectedly had quite ceased to have that sort of effect.
The plus side to all of this is that Joanne no longer seems to be fighting her shamanic role as much and is excepting who she is and what she can do. Even her boss seems to be adapting to the idea, which can be quite hilarious at times. The chemistry between them is as visible as lightning, but for some reason neither one wants to act on it, which is frustrating to no end for me.
I was really hopeful through most of the book that the new male element was as good as he seemed, because he was perfect for Joanne in so many ways. The way her life changed on a dime did not seem to phase him, and neither did her shamanic duties. It was like he had this secret knowledge that he knew exactly what she needed, and it was the hottie standing in his shoes. Alas, these things are always too good to be true.
I enjoyed the focus on sleep and dreaming that this book had, it was a more unpredictable element for Joanne to work with and it made her expand her limits and comfort zone. This also allowed her to venture into her boss's mental garden, which was both surprising and exciting and added a new layer to their evolving relationship.
I was not really satisfied with the ending, but the great thing about series is that this still has the potential to change. I look forward to the next book in the series, Walking Dead (The Walker Papers, Book 4). - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Everyone is asleep. Well, not everyone, but enough of the Seattle Police Department to be worrisome. And more keep falling asleep every minute. What is an Urban Shaman to do?
After the problems, and terrors, of "Thunderbird Falls" Joanne thinks it is about time to get back to living her life, and learning her craft as a Shaman. Sort of tough to do when your spirit guide is still missing, and your long-time crush has started dating a tiny little cutie of a redhead. Sort of hard on a 6' dark haired female's ego. As Joanne's friends at the department start falling magically asleep, Joanne is given the reins, again, by her boss and ongoing crush, Morrison (as always, against his 'stick-in-the-mud' principles, but hey, if it is what is needed to get the job done, far be it from him to deny himself the tool necessary for the job.) When Billy Holliday, her huge, loveable, cross-dressing, partner, goes to sleep, quickly followed by his wonderfully well-written wife, the tiny and tough Melinda, Joanne has even more reason to buckle down and kick some spirits booty.
Character development in Coyote Dreams is just as awesome as usual, as is the development of a story line based upon Native American myth.

Easy Pickings - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One night stands aren't beat cop and newly minted shaman Joanne Walker's thing. So when she wakes up next to a gorgeous, very naked man in her own bed after a lot of Johnnie Walker at the annual police picnic, she's surprised to say the least. But even that's better than the news that many of her fellow officers haven't awakened at all. Something's sending the Seattle police force to sleep, and it seems to be targeting Joanne's friends first. Down the rabbit hole and out amongst the butterflies - sure hope this isn't where the Joanne/Morrison relationship stalls out!

Easy Pickings - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Better. The character still has no idea what she's doing, and admits that, but she asks a lot more questions and just tries harder. The author has created a deeply flawed character and she hasn't made the shamanism a quick fix to those flaws. It makes the character frustrating to read at times, but it is consistent and the process of her development is interesting.
I still find the dreamscape confusing and I think it takes away from the momentum of the rest of the story, particularly since it just happens so often. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Ditto my review on Thunderbird Falls. Just look that up and you'll have the contents of this one too.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a series I read when I want a well written book, not too deep, with genuine characters. Its not great literature, but its a cold Sunday afternoon literature. In this book, Joanne is still reeling from what happened in the previous book - her Spirit Guide seems to be missing, and on top of it it, the members of her police force are falling into a coma.Of course - this isn't great literature. There are some random things that are unexplained or just don't make sense, but for the most part, it doesn't matter.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Coyote Dreams (The Walker Papers, Book 3) by CE Murphy picks up a short time after Thunderbird Falls (The Walker Papers, Book 2). Joanne Walker finds herself in a rather precarious position--hungover, with no recollection of the previous night & a gorgeous, naked stranger in her bed. She never gets drunk and she certainly never has casual sex, but all evidence points to the contrary. However, nothing is truly as it seems for something powerful has been awakened & it's working it's way into Joanne's life. Her friends and co-workers are falling asleep and not waking up. She starts receiving powerful dreams, apocalyptic dreams where the world ends & she is at the center of it all. She is also having dreams where she has everything she ever wanted: her old job back, the respect of her co-workers restored & the attention of a certain police captain. But what is real and possible and what is just manipulation? She'll have to figure it out if she is going to defeat the powerful force feeding on the life force of those that make up her life.In this latest installment of the Walker Papers, we find Joanne still looking for Coyote to guide her, only to find out that he is trapped and can not help her without drawing attention to her. Instead, she has to start looking inside herself for the answers. CE Murphy has created a wonderfully complicated character in Joanne Walker. Her mixed heritage, her unconventional upbringing by her father & abandonment by her mother create a backdrop for a lost sense of self in a woman who needs to know who she is. As a powerful Shaman, Joanne is capable of great things, but her inability to accept her power combined with her own issues of self-loathing are working against her. In this latest story, Joanne has to look deep inside herself, to find the answers to defeat the powerful force that is slowly devouring those that make up Joanne's life. We finally start to see her acknowledge and accept issues from her past that desperately need to be healed. We also come into some interesting information about Coyote, which I hope is pursued in the next book, Walking Dead (The Walker Papers, Book 4). Joanne's character is truly beginning to evolve and she just might be able to accept who she is and what she is meant to do. However, nothing comes without a price and, in the end, she is faced with a very difficult decision about which path in life she is to take.I really enjoy this series and Coyote Dreams (The Walker Papers, Book 3) is no exception. I appreciate how Joanne's character evolves at her own pace & doesn't have a lot of major, life changing epiphanies that solve all her issues at once. I'm seriously looking forward to reading Walking Dead (The Walker Papers, Book 4) to see how her decisions in this story have manifested in her life.Follow me as readerbarbara at blogspot dot com
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is my favorite book from The Walker Papers series. I like this book better because it seemed like Joanne has more of a Social life and starts reflecting on past mistakes. She finally admits that she has a thing for her boss Morrison, but also goes out on a date with Mark and schedules a future date with Thor (Edward). So it makes the story line a little more exciting. I can't wait to see who she will fall for in the next Book "Walking Dead".If you want to read this book you need to read them in order.Book 1: Urban ShamanBook 2: Thunderbird FallsThis is book 3: Coyote Dreams
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5These books are addictive. I have a to-read pile longer than my arm, yet I had to buy the 2nd and 3rd books in this series in quick succession. That, and I read through this one in little over a day. I couldn't put it down. Thank goodness a 4th book comes out later this year.Joanna Walker, reluctant shaman, is having a really bad day. She awakens to find a strange man in her bed and then gets a phone call saying one of her dear friends is in a coma. The next day is even worse - more of her friends won't wake up, and Joanne keeps falling into shamanic trances at inconvenient times. Her spirit guide, Coyote is still missing, and the dreams get more and more bizarre. It's time to save the world again - but the greatest challenge may be to save herself.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved, good fast read. Thrilling from beginning to end. However I was a little exasperated by the ending. How come she can't have her cake and eat it too?
