A collection of three "classic" (read: published several years ago) stories that can be considered either long novellas or shorter novels, Kiss Me, I'm Irish is a decent collection. The last story, "Whatever Reilly Wants" I thought was the strongest of the three, with the first, "The Sins of His Past" a close second. I found the middle one, "Tangling with Ty" to be the weakest, but it still wasn't a bad read.

"Whatever Reilly Wants" was a bit of a slow start and slightly dated (the heroine is trying to get an Internet cafe going, which is presented as a fairly new concept), but ultimately was a cute story. I was pleasantly surprised when Kendra had the perfect opportunity to blow a conversation she overheard totally out of proportion and overreact accordingly, resulting in an overblown sense of drama (as has happened in more than one book I've read recently, to my frustration), but didn't. Instead she reacts calmly and rationally, using her good sense to help Deuce see the error of his ways in the end. Roxanne St. Claire mentions in her forward that the straight-up romance genre is one she doesn't write much of any more having moved on to mystery/suspense; on the strength of this story I'm willing to give some of her more recent works a shot.

Overall "Tangling with Ty" just felt like it was trying too hard. For one thing, there was more telling than showing throughout. For example, the female lead was supposedly a doctor with a genius IQ who started medical school at a significantly younger age than the rest of her classmates, but you really don't see that in her behavior in the story. (Not that she's not intelligent, she is; she just doesn't "read" as a person who should have graduated high school at the age of twelve.) There's many situations that feel artificially forced as well, which had me shaking my head. For example, when Nicole comes home from an exceptionally long shift looking forward to nothing more than eating, showering, and sleeping (She's exhausted--it was a long and grueling day, and she tells us so, in no uncertain terms), only to have a moderately uncomfortable encounter with another character--which she conveniently extracts herself from by heading right back to work! Surely that's neither realistic nor advisable? Though it wasn't a disappointing story, in the end, it just didn't seem polished enough to be as enjoyable as many of her more recent works.

"What Reilly Wants" is the second in a trilogy about a set of triplets who have inherited a large chunk of change from a relative--and then promptly bet it in a friendly family wager. Their older brother, a priest, bets his three siblings that they couldn't manage ninety days of celibacy. The first brother, Brian, has already lost "The Bet" when the story begins, and it's pretty clear from the start that Connor's days are numbered though the poor guy doesn't have a clue. How he becomes happy to be the second brother to go down is an entertaining story that will definitely have me looking for Brian and Adrian's stories soon...I wonder what kind of roof Father Reilly will be getting for his church when he wins?

All three stories in this collection are reprints. I have to say, I didn't love them. Each story had its good moments, but mostly I found myself frustrated with the story or annoyed at the characters.

The Sins of His Past by Roxanne St. ClaireThis book was my favorite of the 3!Kendra – a genius in her own right has one killer secret she kept from Deuce; who just happens to be the only man she’s ever loved.Deuce – baseball player extraordinaire, has “retired” from baseball and returned to his hometown to run the family bar.Problem? Kendra, thanks to Deuce’s father, is how half owner of his family bar and is in the process of turning it into a trendy internet cafe. How to fix this? With a competition of course! Winner gets the bar and can turn it into whatever he/she likes. As you watch the competition heat up, so do the sparks between Deuce and Kendra. Will she ever be able to move on from the past? Once the secret is out, will Deuce be able to forgive her? Will love be enough to conquer the past? With an emotional back and forth, a heart wrenching secret and a page turning story line; this book was a winner :DTangling with Ty by Jill ShalvisI love me some “opposites attract” books! On one hand you have Ty – wandering architect, who can never seem to settle down in one place. On the other hand you have Nicole – a doctor, who has the social graces of a groundhog and seems perfectly content working herself to death. Yet with Ty, she starts to come out of her shell of anti-social-ness. The question is; can she get him to stay and can he get her to risk it all?The tone set in this story line was lighthearted and perfect for a “prop your feet up on the back deck with a drink and good romance book” type of day!Whatever Reilly Wants by Maureen ChildThis book, to me, wasn’t as good as the first two, but it was still very enjoyable! I felt that in this one, you guessed everything that was coming. I like some surprises in my reads!Connor Riley – who is currently in a “no sexf for 90 days” bet with his brothers (which happens to have a HUGE cash prize for the winner), feels that his best friend, Emma is the only female that is “safe” to be around. Emma on on the other hand; feels the complete opposite and seems to have some plans of her own where the best is concerned and every last one of them involve Connor losing. This seems to be your typical, make your best friend fall in love with you, love story. Although, I must admit it did have some interesting twist thrown in there! I would def recommend this to those who like the lighthearted romances!
