About this ebook

Book one in The Earth AngelsInvestigative journalist Kendall Glynn is horrified when a friend and colleague signs off permanently during a live newscast, jabbing a pen into his jugular. Kendall's no expert, but judging by the strange white veil in the anchorman's eyes, she would swear he was a man possessed.

A descendant of the accursed Nephilim, Zeke Reece prowls San Francisco by night, keeping the city free from paranormal phenomena. But even he is no match for whatever malevolent force is behind a recent rash of murder-suicides. And when a beautiful tenacious reporter becomes the next target, Zeke has no choice but to stay close to her, until he can find the evil spirit and cross it over.

The closer Kendall gets to the truth, the more danger she's in. Fortunately, a sexy and mysterious masked stranger keeps swooping in to the rescue. Kendall's life depends on finding who or what is responsible for the killings, before it finds her.

Stacy Gail

A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

Listened for Fun (Audible)Overall Rating: 3.75Story Rating: 3.50Character Rating: 4.00Audio Rating: 3.50 (not part of the overall rating)Quick Thoughts for a Quick Book: For a short read this was a fantastic listen. In fact, I think I found a new way to enjoy shorter stories. For some reason, narration added an extra layer to the story and it felt deeper than if I read it. Kendell and Zeke were both well-rounded characters that I was rooting for the whole way through. The mystery was well-planned and thought out. I thought the story could have been longer and deeper (there was just something missing I couldn't put my finger on) but overall I enjoyed it. Great read for an afternoon on the porch!Audio Thoughts: Narrated By Romy Nordlinger / Length: 3 hrs and 34 mins This is my first time listening to a book narrated by Romy and she did a pretty good job. I think she made me like the book more than I normally would have but I didn't get a chance to get used to her male voices. It sometimes takes me a bit to warm up to male voices done by females and in short books that time just isn't there. I will give her another whirl though!

Gail's new mythology is strong. One can believe in the background, and it is easy to understand despite its originality. The characters are slightly one-dimensional and readers are not particularly invested in them, and the plot could be stronger. Overall, a hit or miss for readers.

It had a really strong beginning. I was hooked. The suspense was great. I liked the characters. Once you get to the middle, the story seemed to be rushed. Could be because of the short length of the book. I would have like more character and plot development.
