Juliana Norris has a unique gift. She can see magical signatures allowing her to know what kind of paranormal creature inhabited a space. This makes her an exceptional Realm Walker for the Agency.Juliana has a number of secrets. This includes who is her father, how she can come back to life after she dies, and that she is the mate of master vampire, Thomas Kendrick; a vampire that has been out of her life for the past seven years. Now Kendrick has returned, no longer able to fight his need for Juliana. If all that is not enough, a demon has taken a personal interest in Juliana. She has to stop the demon before he destroys all her friends and loved ones, including Thomas.Kathleen Collins does a commendable job with the first book to the series. Her characters are multidimensional giving the story credibility.Realm Walkers is full of excitement and action. There is a ton of stuff going on, but it is easy to follow and a hard book to put down. Realm Walker is an excellent book. I am really looking forward to continuing reading this series.ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

**Review written for an originally posted on my blog, Book Bliss.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review**Review: 3.5 starsGeneral: Realm Walker nicely straddled the worlds of urban fantasy and romance, though it did lean very heavily on the romantic elements in comparison to the fantasy ones – not a problem at all really. The book felt very much like others in the category and it made it a pleasant read as it followed the loved formula so much. I think the strongest element of this book was the world building. Each and every page brought this world more and more to life for me and drew me in. The plot was a little slow to move (much like Keri Arthur’s see reviews here) but once it got going it was easier to enjoy the novel as the writing itself is wonderfully strong as well. For me there was one flaw that took the book down and it was the romance between Juliana and Thomas. Given that it was such a heavily impacted part of the novel it was hard to believe the two together. Separately they were both wonderful characters it just didn’t have the heat that you expect from characters when romance is such a heavy focus.Characters: Juliana Norris- Juliana was a true kickass female lead. I thought of her much like Xhex from the BDB to be honest. A little less cruel and locked away but very similar otherwise – tough life, bad situation with a lover, strong warrior. While I didn’t like her with Thomas I truly think she is a female character to get behind.Thomas Kendrick- Thomas is one of those love them or hate them characters. For me I hated him with Juliana but found his overall character very appealing and intriguing. He wasn’t an alpha male in the traditional “I man, you woman” sort but he still was and I loved that we got inside his head as well.

As a realm walker, Juliana is able to see the magical signatures of every other creature but demons. When a demon starts going after her and everyone she cares about she has to work double to try and catch them before she looses everything.Although I enjoyed REALM WALKER there were a few issues that jump out. The story was slow on the start. I did not connect with the characters or the storyline right away. There was a lot of background and build up throughout the story and when the story actually peaked it felt like there wasn't much left to the book. I sometimes felt like I was missing something. Having said that at least all the background is out-of-the-way for book 2!Now for the good stuff. There was a ton of action. When things got interesting they stayed interesting. I enjoyed learning about Juliana and her background with Thomas. Juliana's job is interesting and I liked seeing her in action. There really isn't a romance, there is Juliana avoiding and Thomas pursuing but they don't actually meet in the middle until the end (which is part of the build up and end thing I talked about). BUT What we did get of these two and the part of the story that dealt with Michael was entertaining to follow.REALM WALKER ended with me happy I read it. It has a lot of promise and I want to know what happens now for Thomas and Juliana.* This book was provided free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
