About this ebook
“Quotes from a Mentor” is the true life story of a young girl chosen to be mentored by a very special man who saw her potential, and felt she could become anything she desired with his guidance. At thirteen, Sahara finds herself confused after her family life is destroyed by divorce. Chick begins mentoring her, never leaving her side until he dies thirty-two years later at age ninety-six.
“Quotes From a Mentor” is the authentic and accurate dialog between the two, filled with inspiration touching on all areas of life: career, culture, family, relationships, responsibility, love, self-improvement, happiness, wealthy, financial hard times, and the loss of a loved one.
Chick explains everything in such simple terms with real life examples, making it easier to take each step in life. To this day, Chick’s wisdom and advice relates to any situation; for that reason Sahara decided to share his words and their story with the world.
“Fill your todays with lots of tomorrows that you look forward to.”

About the Author
Dear Sahara,
This is Chick. It always has been. I gave you everything because I love you and wanted to acknowledge that you were special and give you the opportunity to grow up with love and tried to protect you, love you, and teach you your whole life—about life and love.
The things I were not capable of giving and doing—I did with you—my chosen one. Now, as you are older, it is your turn to pass it on and choose someone to give it to eternally; as I did for you—with the flame of belief always burning.
Keep the faith kid
Chick
PROLOGUE
Through the sands of time, a man was born—with many challenges. He learned the hard way, and knew he had to be smart to survive and chose the skills he needed. He was one of the chosen ones—he was gifted with the wisdom of knowledge, calmness, serenity, and common sense. He always had it, but in his youth, he had to grow into it. If you ask him, he finally grew up at 80 years old.
At the age of 13, this same man walked into my life, and little did I know back then; he would change it forever. However, it was a package deal—that came with his wife, the mourning of his first born son, the destruction of my father’s marriage, attempts to make one of my brothers a man, many women, and a best friend who was always there and dedicated his life to teaching me.... how to get through life. Survive, I did– that was my strong point. Where did he come in? Making sure survival was not the only priority.
For the next 32 years, Chick (Harold I. Meyers) had made it his personal intention and literally, a life time commitment taking me under his wing, and mentoring me in every subject matter that I would need to deal with in real life situations; business, culture, family, responsibility, love, being happy, being wealthy, financial hard times, and loss of a loved one.
Through various means—of going to business lunches, dinner meetings, lectures that would come across the dining room table, lunches at diners, phone calls, emails, trips across Europe, and my favorite—afternoon chats before cocktail hour
my mentoring lessons were an ongoing process for 32 years.
A few exceptional events have stuck in my memory forever.
Let me share a few with you ...
THE BAT MITZVAH MEETING
The first memory I have of Chick is his attendance with his wife to my Bat Mitzvah. I also remember when my mother and father stood up and raised their glasses to toast me; that would be the last time I would see my parents together.
Not too long after that, I received a check for $5,000 USD from him. I asked my mother who it was from and she told me, her boss. I asked Why would he give me a check for so much money?
She replied without even looking at me, He sees something special in you and feels that you have a lot of potential.
