I'm a native Arizonan and while growing up, I would often write down notes about stories germinating in my head. I was always interested in the fantasy genre, having been introduced to Anne McCaffrey's Riders of Pern book series (may she rest in peace) in elementary school. I devoured Piers Anthony, Raymond E. Feist, and later, Lord of the Rings. In trying my hand at mysteries, I've found they are fickle things, like a knot in yarn. Instead of cutting it, try to work it out and once unraveled, have a straight line of yarn again. I will some more books coming soon, so please enjoy the ones I have out now. Chapter 1

Rosie took the ear buds out of her ears when she saw her stepfather approaching her on the sidewalk. She was nearly ten, now old enough to know he was an angel who had saved her from her biological father four years ago.

    Rosie, how was school?

    School was okay. Where’s Mom?

Matthew sighed. Your mother is with Father Dan, your grandfather, at the soup kitchen. She said she would be there most of the day.

Rosie rolled her eyes. Mom’s always busy. She looked up at him and smiled, falling into step. How was your class?

Matt returned the smile. Great. My classes are surprisingly full all the time. The faculty say I am more knowledgeable than Father Dan about such things, but I always say that Father Dan had studied much more, seeing as how he’s a man of the cloth.

In other words, you’re being modest. Rosie summed up.

I suppose. Matt was now a professor of theology at the University of Southern California, known as USC. Now that he was mortal, he
