      Good book. The relationship between Conner and Dallas is very complicated. They had dated briefly a couple years before, but grew apart when Conner's work schedule interfered. Then she started going out with his friend Richard. Now Conner has lost his job because of company downsizing and Richard has his job. To top it all off, Dallas is pregnant with Richard's baby, even though they have called off their engagement. When Dallas's job as a photographer and Conner's work as a trainer bring them together they discover that the attraction is still there and stronger than ever. Conner would like nothing more than to get involved with Dallas. But he has been out of work for six months and is making ends meet by working as a horse trainer for friends. He feels like a failure and his pride won't let him contemplate a future with Dallas until he has a "real" job again. He just can't see that how much money he makes isn't important to Dallas. I liked seeing him with the horses and how patient he was with their training. I loved seeing the work that he did with the injured mare. He was also very impressed with how good Dallas was with her photography and I loved how he was supportive of her work. He also was wonderful with kids as was shown when he was around his friends' kids. He had no doubts that he could be good with Dallas's baby too, but he was also sure that he was unable to provide for them right now. It was hard seeing how much he wanted to be with Dallas but denied himself.Dallas has broken things off with Richard because she realized she didn't love him. When she discovered she was pregnant he wanted to go through with the wedding anyway. I liked the fact that he stood up to his responsibilities. Dallas loved her work as a photographer and she was trying to get more jobs of the documentary variety. When she was asked to do the photos for a book about the mustangs she was thrilled. She was surprised by her renewed attraction to Conner and not particularly happy about it because she was afraid it might just be a rebound thing. The more time she spent with Conner the more her feelings grew. I loved the way that she could see both the business guy and the cowboy and that she liked both of them. I also liked the way that she tried to show Conner that she had confidence in him. I really enjoyed seeing the way that they worked together using the photographs to help with the horses.Both of them had issues to be dealt with before they could be together. I liked the realism of the feelings shown. Conner's frustration and feelings of failure were well shown. He also showed his frustration with Richard's continued presence in their lives but knew it was something he'd have to deal with. Dallas had some issues with her stepfather that had colored her view of marriage and blended families. After talking with her mom she too had a new viewpoint on some things.

      STARSI enjoyed reading again about Mustang Valley and seeing old friends again.Conner Durham has lost his job months ago and can't find anything like he had. He has 2 degrees even. Conner had sold his new cars and got a used truck that had no payments. He rented his house less than the morgage to try and hang on. He is working with horses on his friends ranch and helping out on the mustang sanctuary. He lives in a small apartment on the ranch.Dallas Sorrenson is going to take the photographs of Prince and the Mustangs. She used to date Conner but the timing was wrong. Then she was engaged to Richard who had taken Conner's job when the plant downsized. Dallas had broken off the marriage plans and then found herself pregnant with Richard's baby.Conner and Dallas are thrown together a lot while she is taking photos. They see a injured mare with two arrows in her still and she has a colt. Dallas is worried about the mare. Her photos go out to the media to help find the person who shot her. Plus her owner.Conner finally finds her again and is able to bring them in at a high cost to himself.It's not been a easy time finding a job and its hard on his ego. Plus Richard is still in the picture and will be hopefully for the baby's whole life.Lots of drama,romance,hope,pride and horses in this Mustang Valley novel. I liked it was easy to read and picture in my mind. I feel bad for Conner I know a lot of people are in that situation right now.       If you’re looking for a romance plot with plenty of complications this is it! Conner Durham is six months into his job hunt as a systems analyst, training mustangs and renting out his home to try make the mortgage payments after having sold off his other possessions. Dallas Sorrenson is an up and coming photographer with a bit of emotional baggage from her blended family adolescence. To make matters worse, Dallas’ ex-fiance, Richard, was Conner’s best friend and took over managing his employees when their company downsized. The icing on the cake? Dallas is pregnant with Richard’s baby! The situation has tension and doubts on both sides written all over it.I enjoyed reading this book. I may have enjoyed it a tad more if I couldn’t relate to Conner’s job situation quite so easily. With the countless complications in a relationship between Conner and Dallas I was expecting things to feel really contrived and forced, but McDavid pulled it off. Each of the hinderances seemed real and plausible even in the context of the others - no easy feat I would imagine.This is the fourth book in the Mustang Valley series. I have not read any of the previous titles, though I can take a stab at which of the supporting characters are likely featured in them. I did not feel like I missed anything by jumping ahead to this title. Odds are good that I’ll revisit the earlier titles in this series.I received an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley for an honest review.
