Book 2 in this series, and I liked this one better than book one. This series is about 3 young ladies and although they can be read as stand alone books, all three ladies are in all three stories. This story is about Summer Maxwell, a strong-willed young woman who has a real "chip on her shoulder" when it comes to the lack of interest her parents showed in her life. Summer is coming back to her small townTexas home to visit her grandparents (who practically raised her), and to rest and refresh her life and her faith. She wasn't expecting the home she has grown to love to be sold and her grandparents to be living in a retirement community.Landscaper Mack Riley rescues a stranded lady with a broken down car along side the road. He wasn't expecting it to be Summer, the lady he has heard so much about from the folks who sold him their home. Mack loves working at the retirement community as their landscaper, and doesn't need Summer's distrust and anger at him for buying out her grandparents home. Both Summer and Max are trying to get over bad relationships and both have bad scars from them. They will both need to trust their feelings for one another, even if things start to look bad. I liked the tension between these two, but I loved the setting for this story; at a retirement home and the folks that live there. The author stated it well in the letter to the reader at the end of the book: "Together, they (Summer and Mack) had to learn that while human love might not be perfect, it can be complete and fulfilling with a little help from friends, family and especially God".

Perfect, uplifting read. Good for someone in the hospital.
