WHAT THIS BOOK IS ABOUT
This book tries to fill in the gaps that the average teacher might not be aware of or not able to share. We have found in our years of study, research and performing that the majority of professionals out there never get to the point in their studies where they really understand the business as it is.
We will introduce you to 4 ideas that will work no matter whether you are a dancer, teacher or musician. Artists set the stage for the business of creativity around the world. My wish is for you to continue to share the beauty and fun of Arabic music and dance wherever you go. Being an artist that is relatively new is one thing but making a big name for oneself in this chosen career is another. Walid and Morwenna will share their expertise with you.
This book will educate you, entertain you and hopefully allow you ways to grow as an artist yourself. Use this book as a reference guide, study guide and a way of reaching out to others you run across in your travels in this wonderful business we share.
Enjoy and be open-minded. Take it day by day one step at a time. Read the thoughts and do the exercises. You can start anywhere depending on your experience. I like to start at the beginning and build. You can also jump around and find what just suits you but I feel you are cheating yourself. You have to be committed to anything you feel seriously about.
The pages at the end are left bare so that you have a place to keep key notes. You should also keep a daily log book. You might decide to take longer than a month for each program. This is fine. Just stick to a schedule diligently.

279. TAKE AN ANNUAL INVENTORY
Know what you have to offer at all times.
Find your strongest asset.
Expand your ideas further and further.
Inventory yourself. What were your accomplishments
this past year?
What do you want to accomplish next?
How will you do it?
FIVE PARTS OF A BELLY DANCE CAREER:
The craft itself = Belly dancing.
How you sell yourself = performing & instructing? Or anything else you do?
What specialty do you have? Weddings, Haflis, Turkish style, Lebanese style, Egyptian style etc.?
Your professional development. = What you need to study to move forward or what needs brushing up to make you better.
Self-promotion = Publications – dance magazines, books. Things under construction – new shows, choreography, new slant to business. Things started but not completed – anything. Progress of online platforms – change as needed. Social networking. Paid jobs. Volunteer jobs. Things just shared or given away.
Take a good look at where you have been and where you are going,
280 -BECOME A LEADER
Be true to self. Do not imitate.
Think things through. Do not just jump in because it sounds good to you. Plan it out and then move forward.
Be someone no one can imitate.
NICHE CRAFT:
Concentrate on what you do best.
Focus on one area. This takes patience and you have to still work on your weak points to make them stronger. Self-trust and consistency are important.
COMMUNITY BUILDER:
Test drive and share so it can be transformed into an environment that is recognizable as yours and encourages others to be drawn to you.
BE A MAVEN:
Combine two things together to present that previously have not been put together. Do it in a way that you would choose. Start something and grow it over time. Join two niches that can create YOU!
CONNECT:
A connecter is a person of interest who lets others share in what you are doing. Invite and then share with others. Grow your own network of influence. Be accessible, available and share with others what you have. You have to have wide and deep knowledge of specific topics. There is no guess work here.
281. – TEST MARKET
Got a great idea? Great!
So do a lot of other people. How do you know your idea has any solid base for success?
LITTLE – An immediate local audience might be
